Tried to use 3DMark 11 to benchmark my laptop, and here are the results:

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/9826134

I'm not too sure what the "P" at the start means, but the score's at around 6000-7500. Thoughts?

pretty good performance you got there. definitly encouraging. ^^
and as GuyNwah just said, P stands for performance or "performance points" (i think ?).

Thermal problems are always a concern with laptops. They are especially a concern with a game that is going to push the GPU to 100%.

They are also a risk that anyone who owns a gaming laptop should be familiar with, and have a plan for dealing with. So a blanket "no" is not by itself a constructive answer.

can't the heating problem be countered by puting the laptop on a sort of deck with fans ? i know some people who use that and is pretty good from what i've heard.

That's one of the ways, yes. There isn't one way that works for just everybody or every model. But it is cheap and efficient.

3DMark has a concept of "presets". These allow you to test a wider range of GPUs in such a way that you're comparing entry-level GPUs on a load that entry-level can handle, and extreme SLI or Crossfire configurations on a load that fully exercises them, and compare your scores to other results for the same preset.

The 4 preset levels are "E" (entry level), "P" (performance, though it really means mid-range), "H" (high performance), and "X" (extreme). So "P" scores are comparable to other "P" scores, and so on.

thanks for the info kind sir ^^
well then @xkeiyax ! you heard the man !
should you plan on purchasing the game for your laptop, i suggest you getting a fanned deck for your laptop to keep it nice and cool.

Thanks a lot for the info, guys. Does this mean it'll perform better on my laptop? Not really familiar with the numbers and tech... more of a law/word kind of guy XD.

Also, what's a fanned deck?

honestly, i'm not sure, BUT there are high chances it might perform better. i'm not sure if some fellow PC users can confirm this or not.

sorry for confusing you, the device i'm talking about is not called fanned deck, but a "laptop cooling pad" (checke the link: http://www.amazon.com/b?node=2243862011)

Oh, already got myself the Havit one a week ago, so that's neat.

But yeah, waiting on some more input before I pick up a copy.

so i did some digging, checked the specs of the PS4, and they're like this:

  • 8-Core Jaguar CPU
  • 1.84 TFLOPS GPU. (HD7870 Equivalent)
  • 8GB GDDR5
  • 500GB HDD
  • Blu-Ray/DVD Drive
(references: http://modcrash.com/the-ps4-equivalent-pc-build/ ; http://www.pcgamer.com/pc-gamer-vs-playstation-4-theres-only-ever-going-to-be-one-winner-right/ ; http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Systems/PC-vs-PS4-vs-Xbox-One-Hardware-Comparison-Building-Competing-Gaming-PC ; http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/171375-reverse-engineered-ps4-apu-reveals-the-consoles-real-cpu-and-gpu-specs)

in short, from what i found, its CPU is similar to AMD's FX8120, and its GPU is a modified AMD radeon HD7870.

and i've got some good news ! your laptop's GPU is more powerful (score: P6893) that the PS4 (http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/3271955), and i'm willing to bet the same for the CPU. so i think you're good to go !
