Having a large area is one thing, it's another to make detailed cities like Vizima. I think the hype for this game is getting peoples expectations way too high. I want plenty of cities and travel to Nilfgaard and Kaer Morhen too but someones gotta actually make this stuff and the people at CDPR have limits on how much they can do. That was clearly visible in TW2.

I don´t agree. The reason why TW2 isn´t that big is the fact that they had to develop their own engine and also game was at least once reworked considering the video from early alpha. Yet I have to agree with you that there will be only one maybe two big detailed cities in my opinion. On the other side it will be very positive suprise if there are more.

Agreed. The Devs in a few interviews while answering the questions about paid DLC mentioned that if they were to ever charge ,it would most likely be in the form of a larger expansion pack type DLC. As we know, enhanced edition and post-game patches will be free.

I would love an expansion pack post-game that added new areas, content etc. if the story allows it. time will tell.

It'll be a bummer if we can see Oxenfurt from Novigrad but not go there.

Well, what do you say to that? :ermm:
To each his own I guess, I chose Triss. ;)

Meeting Shani would be nice though, as long as she don't sulk anymore regarding my previous choice in Witcher 1.

And please have Kalkstein return! Loved that character!

"Might rubedo be better?"

I know Kalkstein making a return would make Witcher 3 a lot better. To Kalkstein!

Since this is the epilogue of White Wolf's legends, the story of Geralt of Rivia may probably ends in Rivia.

Is Novigrad the biggest city in TW3?

About six months ago(around E3 2013), I read a article which Japanese press interviewed to Konrad Tobaszkiewicz, who works for CDPR as game director. Here is an extract in part with translation (sorry for my english).
The player can move now freely continent and archipelago including Novigrad which is the largest city in this world, and each storyline and information which should be collected are prepared for each area.

TW3 has 30K (and counting) lines of dialogue according to the infographic released by CDPR. TW2 had 23K. We have seen that Novigrad looks to be quite a large city. That and Skellige islands alone make me a bit worried about the density of content/dialogue in those areas. Then there is supposed to be a number of smaller villages with more quests. Even if CDPR ends up doubling the amount of dialogue for the final game, I see no way there to be enough for another city.

Maybe if The Witcher 3 got a close success like Skyrim (Oblivion if was even a great game, do not got the success like Skyrim, maybe Witcher 2 will be the Oblivion of CD Red) they will enough buyers to make expansion to sell and get good incomes, maybe even if The Witcher 3 do not take all the places that every reader of the books love, they will came on a future with a Big expansion that include, big territories and new endings

One example of a good expansion is the expansion of Dragon Age 1: Awakening

A bad example is a DLC from CoD (like map pack) or Suits from Saint the Row 4

A good example of a DLC is "Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep " which is a great DLC but still no like a expansion.

I'd rather they just moved on to the next big project. I like to take full bites, even if I have to wait.

I agree but we can expect enhanced edition almost for sure. The thing is that I would like to see some big content expansion for Witcher 3 but they are already working on Cyberpunk so I´d rather get Cyberpunk sooner than later.

More realistic width to me, though I am glad if it becomes much vaster.
IMO I even wonder whether Vizima is included or not.

I personally would prefer not having Vizima and instead having the no mans land reach further below down a tad bit into Nilfgaard.

I think Nilfgaard has to happen....We know the emperor is in the game.Mighty emperors don't move around too much but mostly stay at their thrones. xD

Unless it's war. I think he might be somewhere behind the frontline commanding his armies, well or at least commanding his generals who then command the armies.

Do we know how far to North has the empire army conquested by the time TW3 starts?
The trailer was talking about the fact that the Nilfgaardian invasion pierced the heart of the northern realms, and I think I saw an interview where the devs were talking about the fact that Nilfgaard moved somwhere close to Vengerbert and Vizima and that the frontline came to a stand-still there because the the Northern Kingdoms could hold them back there, although they could not beat them (yet).

Honestly I don't think Vizima should be in the game. The locations in TW1 are all memorable and awesome but it would be a waste to include these places when they already have their own game.

I'd rather see them deliver new, amazing places.I would like to see an updated Vizima but that place was huge in TW1.

It could be very resource heavy to re-introduce that place. With a town that large come quests, npcs and stories.I'd rather see them deliver new, amazing places than update Vizima or any TW1 or 2 locations for that matter.

I feel those locations have been concluded in their respective games.

Agreed.
I wouldn't mind revisiting small parts of what we have seen before however, like a small piece of land we visited before.

Draw a line from Vizima down and connect it with both parts of the white line, then make everything right of it grey. Then you got a (probably) more accurate estimate.

Is it confirmed that Vizima isn't conquered already by Nilfgaard? I thought all the time it was.

Actually I think Vizima is some kind of the HQ of the nilfgaardian forces where we're up to meet eventually Emhyr?
