At first i thought the city in this screenshot was novigrad, but with vizima featuring in the e3 trailer, it looks like it might be a long shot of vizima and the surrounding area. any thoughts?

That's Novigrad, but it's from a very early build. It sparked quite a bit of controversy due to people believing it was rather small for the "biggest city in the North".

How many Cities will be in Witcher 3 ?

Anybody has any info straight from the developer ?

Of course we know about Novigrad, which will be huuuuge, but will there be some smaller cities ? The world is pretty big and dense so it would be weird having only 1 big city around it. Villages of course will also be in TW3, but I'm more interested in cities.

The biggest locations that come to mind right now that we know are in the game apart from Novigrad are Oxenfurt and Kaer Trolde. There's also Vizima but we don't know if it'll only appear in cutscenes or not.

I think we will be able to visit a part of it.
The way I understand it it might as well be the eastern border of the map.
Yes, it could be separate, but I heard the developers talking about Kaer Morhen in a way like "yeah, it's so far away from our areas, you will have to fast travel there, there is no direct road or something..." The way they talk about it is often about the distance, and since Vizima is pretty close to the NML and plays a role in the story I wouldn't be surprised if it was attached directly on the end of the map. That way they would also not have any invisible borders. :D ;)

I really hope Oxenfurt is in the game, as well as Velen.

I tend to think that Vizima will be in the game because if not, why bother using it for the cutscene? They could have picked a different city for the meeting, there's no obvious reason why it should be Vizima unless the city itself has relevance to the game.

I hope Rivia is in the game. I don't know whether it fits in the map. We didn't see anything of Lyria or it's queen Meve. This should change. :)
And if they really bring some regions which are apart from the map and which can only be reached with fast travel, then i think every big city of the NK could appear.

I'm afraid Rivia definitely doesn't fit the map...

Yes. They mentioned that the transition to Kaer Morhen won't be samless (you won't be able to just gallop between Novigrad and Kaer Morhen, map doesn't allow it, the distance is too big). IIRC what we know is that we'll be moved there at the beginning of one of the chapters

Who knows, maybe they'll mirror what they did in TW1 and the game starts there. Would be a great way to introduce the other witchers (Vesemir, Lambert, Eskel... maybe Letho comes to visit around the time lol) and explain what it means to be one to new players.

We don't know yet but probably not. To give you an idea Flotsam is to the NE of Temeria at the mouth of the Pontar Valley and the other 2 locations (Vergen and Loc Muinne) are east of it along the Pontar . Novigrad (TW3 main city) is to the NW of Temeria in Redania. TW3 takes place in Novigrad, in the area south of it called No Man's Land and in the Skellige islands off the coast to the far SSE.

The only TW2 location that might be in is La Valette Castle and we don't even have any evidence of that.

On the other had we do know Vizima and Kaer Morhen from TW1 will be in TW3. To what extent you'll be able to explore them (if at all) we don't know for sure yet.
