Playing Gwent without GOG Client

When I do a google search about this topic, i find a lot of older threads where people state that its possible, but you lose friend lists, archievments and the other gog stuff I dont care about but you can play gwent.

If I start Gwent directly now, it wont allow me to enter the game because Im not running the GOG client.

So, has there been a change or do I miss something?

The GoG client is unacceptable. I refuse to launch it again into my poor perfectly running system.

It has changed, indeed. You have to login via GOG now. Nothing can be done about that, unfortunately.
