He never was, Michael Thorton is. But I'm looking forward to seeing him.

Also considering playing the blood omen and legacy of Kain saga, but I can only find the Legacy trilogy on GOG and not blood omen. Anyone know where I can find them?

Right totally forgot so I just said Geralt thinking it was a good bet.
Still the Nameless One is just the best game character ever written. *sheds a manly tear*

Amazon has some used copies on sale, quite cheap, but making the game work on Win7 will require some googling. There's also the PS3 version available for download from the Sony store. But it seems that the PC version falls into the abandonware category nowadays, the published doesn't seem to be concerned about the copyright and the game is available for free on various sites, Abandonia among the others. Anyways Blood Omen is really a standalone game, the sequels are just inspired by the original, I personally didn't like them much.

Last week I found my Jade Empire DVD, so I installed it and replayed it. While playing the game, I came to the conclusion that all BioWare games play the exact same, just with different themes.

They do have the same formula, but I did like Jade Empire a lot.

I am postponing my Planetscape playthrough, gonna play the Legacy of Kain games!
Blood Omen is cool thus far (Vampiric werewofl?!?!).

Here's a Legacy of Cain: Defiance key for anyone interested. I'm assuming the key is all one needs.

Taken. Slackers...

So far I'm liking it.
The story is thus far very generic, but it seems to be headed in a good direction. Due to the limitation of the medium at that time, the narrative is too "thin" for the lack of a better word. The skeleton is there, but the muscle is kind of meh. As in it's way too fast and doesn't delve too deeply into the character. We explore Kain via narration (Kain himself and they are very good) here and there but with cutscenes (yes I am pro-cutscenes), dialogue, conversations...etc, it would have been more in depth. We could have explored his pre-vampire origin more, as well as his hatred of the curse he has which is what motivates him...etc
Kain has a lot of potential as a character and I am looking forward to seeing how he is dealt with in the future.

I like the abilities and equipment. The gameplay is fun, but I am not playing for the gameplay.

There are rumours that the series is going to be rebooted and I hope so, just as long as they focus on the story and not make it a generic action shluck.

Yeah, break realism in a game that has dragons, man-cats, man-lizards, elves, magic, everyone can shoot fireballs out of their hands, werewolves, vampires, daemons and gods who speak to humans, everyone walks and runs with both arms extended in front of them (in the very realistic 1st person view), carrying the equivalent of 500 lbs, etc etc etc etc etc...

I guess I have derailed this thread quite a bit. I'll stop here.

I was never comparing it to real life. Some people like to role play, and whilst I don't really get into it that much, I do like to maintain the realism of the game world, within reason. And using the console totally breaks that.

Just thought I'd point out that it actually is Planescape, not Planet :p This happens all the time though. "Planescape" is a setting within Dungeons and Dragons, that in my opinion, makes the game extremely rich in lore, locations and side stories, even though the AD&D system was so stiff and severely limits character creation. Still, it is overall light years ahead of any other computer RPG you can think of. Let us know what you think in the Playing Classic RPG's thread once you start with Torment.

I got Jade Empire Special Edition on a recent Steam sale. Good to know it comes with your recommendation.

Booted up New Vegas, mainly to run through the dlc again.

I think you're going to like old Vorador and Moebius in Blood Omen Knight, mid game gets a bit sloggy, they focus more on the gameplay than the story, but it picks back up.

Ha! I never noticed it was Planescape, always thought it was planet haha. Thanks for pointing it out.

Jade Empire has a lot of problems and is not as good as TW1 and 2. But what I did like is the antagonist, esp consider the crappy antagonists Bioware does these days, and the implementation of supernatural elements without really taking the focus out of humanity (unlike now). Also the setting, though not as developed as it could have been, is still pretty interesting. Overall, I prefer it to KOTOR.

@ Bloth
I did like Vorador! Didn't meet Moebius yet, though I did get Soul Reaver and Wraith armor.
Yes there is too much gameplay and little story, but that is to be expected.

Has anyone played Resident Evil 5 on PC?
Is it worth the $20.00? Can you zoom out?

Don't waste your time with RE5, definitely not worth the $20. The campaign took me 4-5 hours to finish co-op (you have to play co-op since the friendly AI is worthless), and the multiplayer has a single mode with only a handful of different maps.

Those 4-5 hours are implemented poorly as well. It still uses semi-tank like movements, where you cant move and shoot at the same time, for example. To top it all off, it throws all elements of survival/horror out the window and tries to replicate a bad action film instead. Bad writing, bad story and twists, bad mechanics...do yourself a favor and get Dead Space 1 if you are in the mood for a survival horror experience.

To answer your second question - no, the character always takes up 1/3 of the screen.

I did the same thing. I dragged my feet about playing Planescape: Torment for years, because I don't like science fiction games much (even though I love SF novels). Finally, my husband said, "It's PLANEscape. There's no 't' in that word." Oh. Oops. Well, maybe I'll play it, then.

I just finished Blood Omen. Overall I liked it, the story was good. But it's problematic in the sense I mentioned before. There is substance but it's not fleshed out as much as it could have been. Still it has intriguing plot twists and interesting characters (Vorador, Moebius and Mortanius primarily). It has a good protagonist as well with excellent VA. And while it has cool schemes and schemes within schemes I felt the story was lacking in explaining and exploring motivations. I was not sure why Moebius did what he did. Not sure what the demon thingy at the end wanted, which I hope is more than just destruction. William the Just should have been explored more. King Otmur whatever his name was kind of silly.

But reading a bit in the wikia, it seems that the next games delve deeper in the lore and story and explore motivations more thoroughly. At least I hope so. Looking forward to playing them!

Gameplay wise, the game was surprisingly fun despite a few annoyances here and there (like the 5 spells / items thing). It also has a lot of secrets, apparently I uncovered only 1/3 of them (33 out of 100). And though the game is essentially a giant corridor, it still had a good ambiance to it. Also despite being a corridor, it still had a surprising amount of exploration which is rewarded pretty well.

All in all it was a fun game, with a good story but with much more potential that I hope later games will fulfill.
