And get it on GoG.
I've played about 30 hours of XCOM now, and besides some minor (but still slightly annoying) bugs there is one thing that really angers me. It's how the game handles random numbers to calculate hits and criticals. In fact, every shot is predetermined for every whole mission. That means, if you take the same steps over and over again, you get the same results over and over again. That means, you step up to the big alien badass, your big f*cking gun in hand and you have 99% chance to hit - and you miss. You reload, and miss again. And again. And again. So the game is basically lying straight in your face - you don't have 10%
chance to hit - you just hit. You don't have 95%
chance to hit - you just miss.
It really breaks immersion for me to know that percentages are nothing, but if I just alter one step in my turn - like first moving soldier B instead of A - my 90% shot will actually hit instead of miss infinite times on end.
There's really no point in displaying hit and crit chances, when the outcome is PREDETERMINED! It drives m up the wall! RAGERAGERAGE!
Okay, now I'm out of here to spend 30 more hours on XCOM.
