Rush Bros is the best game ever! It's basically a fast-paced platformer with minimal puzzle-solving, but the best part is playing PvP with a playlist of your own, it's so fun. Some of the higher levels get really sadistic, haha. One bit of warning, your favourite music might induce episodes of PTSD after playing the game with it.

XCOM: I'm heading towards the final confrontation. I don't want it to end! An immediate second run is inevitable.

Well that's a good enough answer, thanks :)

The reason I'm asking is because I like to play shorter games first, and leave games that require a stronger commitment for later. I like getting the most out of gaming, not just "beating" one after the other.

Right now at the top of my list I have Alpha Protocol, XCOM and Expeditions: Conquistador. I'll play one of them right after I finish replaying Baldur's Gate :)

Damned phone gigty? Gigty! Really phone!?

I do that in a lot cases as well. Also had Alpha Protocol on my list of need to buy even if it has rubbish reviews.

So there's a prison chapter in Mafia 2. In one scene you have to hit the showers. Every dude is showering in his undies. Not that I want to see a bunch of dicks, but the scene comes off as ridiculous. This is why I hate censorship and puritanical attitudes.

Been thinking of (finally) getting into Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, but stumbled upon Redemption as well and was wondering whether I should play that game first--simply for fun sake. Anyone here given it a go? Or should I just skip it and play Bloodlines?

That depends if you like Diablo style games.. game has some good atmosphere, music, interesting story, some unique powers and features, but has still many flaws.. so it really only depends if you like that particular sort of games.. otherwise, VtMB is far more better game in every aspect

It's not Bloodlines, but it has an intriguing story that stretches from medieval to modern times, and seeing character and consequences of your actions throughout the timeline is a very fascinating experience. The protagonist is well written, so you won't have any trouble to hate him, nor other side characters. Though a few are very shallow, but most main characters you'll find are superb. And it's only for 5,99 bucks if you won't enjoy it, but I am sure you will.

And get it on GoG. ;)

I've played about 30 hours of XCOM now, and besides some minor (but still slightly annoying) bugs there is one thing that really angers me. It's how the game handles random numbers to calculate hits and criticals. In fact, every shot is predetermined for every whole mission. That means, if you take the same steps over and over again, you get the same results over and over again. That means, you step up to the big alien badass, your big f*cking gun in hand and you have 99% chance to hit - and you miss. You reload, and miss again. And again. And again. So the game is basically lying straight in your face - you don't have 10% chance to hit - you just hit. You don't have 95% chance to hit - you just miss.
It really breaks immersion for me to know that percentages are nothing, but if I just alter one step in my turn - like first moving soldier B instead of A - my 90% shot will actually hit instead of miss infinite times on end.
There's really no point in displaying hit and crit chances, when the outcome is PREDETERMINED! It drives m up the wall! RAGERAGERAGE!

Okay, now I'm out of here to spend 30 more hours on XCOM.

That drove me bonkers on Civilization 4 too. Fecking annoying. You could have a 99% chance to kill a barb or whatever, and you'd still lose. Even if you cheated by reloading and trying again, the damn barb would still shit on your Maceman or whatever it might have been. Maybe it's intended as an anti-cheating device, or maybe the programmers are just lazy, but whatever the case was, it was infuriating. Random seeds like that shouldn't be stored in the savegame itself, it should be "rolled" on the spot.
