PlayStation®5 Pro Update Is Live!

+

Ready to go Pro, chooms? Experience neon-soaked Night City in major-league quality across three new graphics modes available in Cyberpunk 2077’s free PS5®Pro Update — featuring expanded ray tracing, smoother performance, and PSSR upscaling!

For more information, check out the feature overview video and the list of changes below.

Added a PlayStation 5 Pro version of the game, optimized to take advantage of the console’s hardware for smoother gameplay and enhanced visual quality:
  • Adds support for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). PSSR is an AI-powered upscaling technology dedicated for PlayStation 5 Pro. The image is rendered at a lower resolution, then uses PSSR to upscale it, allowing you to maintain high performance.
  • Includes optimized ray-traced object queries and improved ray-tracing cache to reduce shadow popping.
  • Implements BVH8 (8-way Bounding Volume Hierarchy) support to enhance the performance and efficiency of ray-traced lighting, shadows, and reflections.
  • Implements the VRS (Variable Rate Shading) algorithm for optimized shading.
  • Introduces 3 Graphics Modes:
     -  Ray Tracing Mode enables ray-traced reflections on vehicle paint and transparent objects, with all shadows rendered using ray tracing, at a stable 60 FPS. This is the default setting and our recommended way to experience the game on PlayStation 5 Pro.
     -  Performance Mode ensures smooth gameplay, targeting 60 FPS on regular display, and up to 90 FPS on VRR-enabled displays.
     -  Ray Tracing Pro Mode adds ray-traced skylight, ray-traced emissive lighting and ray-traced ambient occlusion, running at 40 FPS on displays with high refresh rates (HFR). If your display does not support HFR, it targets 30 FPS instead.

‪Hope there would be a 1080p rendered resolution with full RT reflection mode, PSSR2 could deliver a clean 4K graphics from 1080p.‬

I wish they would made more updates to fix the bugs that are on console. Legitimately game still crashes and freezes and I have over 400 GB of storage so it’s not that and does this regardless of me reinstalling the game. I feel like this is a waste to force this update on a reg ps5

Which console?
Because the last time I played, on Series X, I didn't encounter a single crash during my +120 hours playthrough :(

Looks great on PS5 Pro now, time for another playthrough! But I do wonder if you could have gone down to 1080p for the internal resolution to get a bit more performance, since PSSR is such a great upscaler now 🤔

it looks INCREDIBLE!! thank you so much to your team for the update!!! so appreciative of your hard work!

on the lower resolution discussion, IMO i definitely notice slight blurriness/loss of detail when pssr upscales from slightly lower resolutions, i prefer to have the sharpness retained. happy that a slightly higher res was targeted for this update. improvement over base console is nuts

This is IT!!!!! The game looks amazing, it got a whole new feeling, so much better. I can't believe what i'm experiencing!
After 1400 hours, this kinda feels like a new game to me. Thank you Cdpr!!

Performance mode gives unseen texture res and fps, RT looks goods, and man RT PRO is insane and vrr 40 fps feels like it's even a bit higher.
Lost for words guys.

But CDPR, after what you guys pull off with this RED engine, you all need to go beyond the Black Wall to top this with UE5 for cyberpunk 2...

on ps5 slim, after the update I am having a graphical artifact. Looks like a dithering vertical stripes constantly on screen, moving, standing, in settings ui everywhere.
I played the same 3 manual save files right before updating and the artifact was immediately noticeable after the update, hard to say it is my hardware's problem.

Did you try clearing cache as explained here:

If that doesn't work I would recommend clicking on "contact us" to send a ticket to CDPR support using the same link.

Sense update 2 31 on ps5 I have a glitch when I call the vehicle. When the car stops in front of me . The tires will be turned towards the left or right. I get in a load screen pops up . When the loading ends I'm still in the car but 100 feet from where I entered. But cdprojectred puts a ps5 pro update . Instead of fixing this . When I have reported it multiple times. Lost me as a customer

I'm really not happy with this update. I'm on base PS5 and my game is running at 40fps + instead of 30fps on the Ray Tracing settings. Contrary to popular belief but not everyone enjoys playing their game at 40-60fps, in a performance mode state. I know It's not the thing to say on the internet but I prefer playing my games at 30fps because it looks more cinematic.

I play on a LG C5 TV and it seems the update affected the frame rate for my version of Cyberpunk which I'm confused because it shouldn't according to the update notes. It said on monitors with a high refresh rate it should display the game at 30fps if you're using the setting Ray Tracing Pro. There's only Performance and Ray Tracing mode so why is my game running at 40fps? I want it to stay at 30fps. Again, I'm so confused. Can you help me?

I don't want to play the game like this. Everyone should have the right to choose. I don't want the base frame rate to be this high.

The graphics is great, especially water drops on skin etc.

BUT…
- my scanner broke. I had default Alternative settings for my controller, where R3 was for crouch and in scanner mode for marking enemies.
But now in scanner mode it’s both for crouch and marking enemies which blows up my cover as I stand up every time I mark enemy or object.
-sometimes when grabbing enemy from behind and positioning him near the body disposal container „takedown and hide body” option is missing
-for some reason climbing became more difficult
-I had impression there is less loot and more inactive loot boxes.

it’s weird because it doesn’t seem connected to the graphics update, but here I am feeling the difference from before the update :)

Edit: clearing cache fixed the scanner issue. I will let know about the rest later.

They broke 3rd person Y-Axis inverted option. Reddit users are reporting this after looking it up. PS5 and PS5 Pro no longer have the option. I have a Base PS5 and now have a non playable game thanks to this. Can’t invert 3rd person camera. 50 hours into my first playthrough and they broke it. And they probably have no plans on doing anything about it because they only cater to what makes them money. Forget this game.

I have learned one lesson from this. To turn off automatic updates on PS5. So that Game studios can’t screw us over with an update whenever they want.

It does seem that this patch removed several options under the “control” settings. Most significantly the “invert vertical axis” option for driving/3rd person.

I’ve filed a support request and received a boiler plate response saying to clear cache / reinstall the game (which did not work).

Could we possibly get confirmation this is a known issue and will be fixed at some point? Thank you!

I just need to know what the update changed in the base settings, because everything was going very smooth for me, till I was experimenting and hit default and noticed that horizontal and vertical axis went from 18 and 10 to 12 and 12. So obviously the base controller settings were changed according to the update, but defaulting reverts to before the update. Now my scope seems very fast and hard to zero too… how do I find out what the update default controller settings are/were since hitting “defaults” now sends them back to before the update and everything seems off! Example is before update default was 12/12 on horizontal and vertical turn now it’s 18 and 10. What about the other changes made on base ps5? I liked how it was set with the update… but can’t default to them since it defaults to what was before the update? Someone help and give me the updated controller defaults please!

I just downloaded this update. Just a still moment is improved. Like WOW!
Can you please send a photo of your controller and advanced controller settings since you downloaded the update if you haven’t changed them yet? My sensitivity numbers changed and I loved how the new controller operated, but after experimenting and hitting default it went back to numbers from before this update I’m guessing since I never altered them before and want the update settings back! I would appreciate it 😊

Can you send me a pic or tell me what the updated controller and advanced controller number settings are with this update in controller and advanced controller? They were changed with this update as I never altered them before, but after experimenting I hit default and several sensitivity numbers changed which I never changed prior to, I’m guessing, what they were before the update which probably changed some of them to match the performance enhancements! I have no way now of getting the default controller and advanced controller updates from the patch back to what they were since several were changed that I never altered before the patch when hitting default now! Like sensitivity was 18/10 then default set them at 12/12, idk what else they updated or changed but I miss the way they were since the update! My characters movements were great! Why don’t they default to the updated settings which became the new norm after installing and not the defaults prior to 2.31? Can I get a picture of the controller and advanced controller settings on this update if you haven’t changed them yet since installing 2.31?

Hello! The new update rocks but I'm having some graphical issues on Pro RT mode. While driving I'm seeing noisy artifacting appearing on road surfaces. I'm also experiencing white flickering occurring around the hair of character models. Seen it happen with my V in photo mode and also with Kerry during gameplay.
Not sure if you've been made aware of these issues before. I really hope CDPR will drop a hot fix to resolve these issues because the new graphics modes are lovely. Just need to sort these issues out and we're cooking with gas!

Btw, will there be any fix coming to remove V's visible neck seams? Ever since patch 2.0 I've been able to see gaps between V's neck and shoulders in photo mode. It seems to get worse depending on what V wears. There also seems to be an issue with certain types of clothing overlapping tattoos creating gaps in the design which doesn't look good. Such as a sleeve will remove part of the tattoo where its touching the skin. It has stopped me from selecting certain body tattoos now. Happy to provide pictures if you need it.

Thanks!!
