I cannot disagree with Synvael. She has pizza.
I personally love what CDPR did with Ciri.
But I understand the people who don't:
you have to consider that everyone's imagination probably created a different version of Ciri.
That's the blessing and curse of books.
Whenever the jump from a book to another medium happens, there are always people who will be disappointed.
Aye, this is true of course, as it always is. And longtime fans are probably the ones most afraid of seeing their favourite characters in any other way than how they imagined. Of course there will be some comments, and I can understand and respect that, especially from those who grew up with the books. It's sensitive and precious. So how brave aren't CDPR to have Ciri in the game anyway?
Yeah, I don't think I can come up with a better word than brave. CDPR knew from the start that they would have to tread softly on Sapkowski's legacy, but still daring enough to walk their own way. And I reckon they have, and suspect others think so too, or else so many fans of the books wouldn't even be here.
Maybe some fans would rather not have Ciri in the game at all? Maybe no games at all, and that CDPR shouldn't tread on this legacy, making the games we all love, inspired from books that we love? Well I know that if they hadn't, I wouldn't love Geralt, Ciri, Yen, Triss, Dandilion, and all the other characters as I now do...because I simply wouldn't even know of them. So thanks again CDPR, I can never give you enough credit for leading me to Sapkowski's books. And I hope longtime fans recognise that thanks to CDPR, even more fans have come to know and love Ciri and all the other characters in Sapkowski's Witcher universe. ^_^
