but I hope that there will be cameos from The Witcher 1-3.

Not sure if that is a good idea, to a new protagonist, they would be strangers, their appearance could end up feeling forced or fan service-y. It can also lead to awkward situations like Thaler showing up alive in TW3 after he died in a previous game. But it depends, if they have a real role in the story that makes sense (preferably on all paths of the existing games), then some returning characters would not be bad. Maybe even Iorveth could appear again. :)

I am still working through ''The Witcher 3'', but, please, no clean-slate characters. Geralt's tale has a properly thought out, mature, complex story, not the inevitable ''you-are-the-Messiah-and-must-save-the-world'' tripe of Skyrim et al. His past alone makes him an ambiguous character -- and being Geralt is psychologically a strain, you are the Butcher of Blaviken, the faithless lover of unnumbered poor souls (I seem to remember reading that the first ''Witcher'', which I have not played, has pornographic cards of his past women), ninety-seven years of nearly senseless slaughter, yet still waveringly a good man -- how long will he remain one? Is he still? Was he ever? These are the questions that catapult the Witcher to game-literature.

A very different little game, very bitter, ironic, sly, even blackly funny, could be played in the powdered intrigue of the Nilfgaardian court (a chance to see Emhyr dance on the barrows of his foes). Perhaps a little sub-game without combat.

You don't make a new protagonist (in a game, movie, TV show) without cameos. But I doubt we'll see Witcher 4 for a while. Though the series is popular enough for a 4th game they definitely need two teams in their company.

If the other planned (until 2021 according to a presentation from 2016, could be later now with all the delays) AAA game is not a Witcher title, it might not be released until around 2025. But it was indeed said that the series will be put to a rest for a while. After such a long time and with a new protagonist, it would likely be aimed at the new player mainly, there would not be much point forcing cameos into the game for the sake of fan service. Of course, it also depends on whether reusing any of the previous cast even makes sense, the new game could be 100 years before or after the current trilogy for all we know, or in a completely different location.

And they will name it "The Elder Scrolls № Somewhere". No thanks. For me, the Witcher is only Geralt of Rivia, without him there will be no sense in story.

Turns out I voted for the one just above the least popular selection. Multiple characters, like three imo. What a twist that would be for W4.

Since Geralt's story is over, i 'd like to have a choice of one of the other witcher schools, creating a custom witcher. Or maybe a sorcerer/ess, working together with the witchers (or against them). It could be many years before Geralt's story, (even at the time when Vesemir was young! ).

Some other existing character.... I wouldn't mind a game about other witcher schools.... If Witcher 4 will ever be released that is because I can see CDPR dropping it for a quite long time.

I would like to see a prequel game, dating way back to the start of the Witchers guilds. When monsters are everywhere and the Witchers are first tasked with culling their numbers. The game could let you create your own custom character with a lot of rpg elements, and also bring in the ethics of mutations. People would start treating you differently as you underwent more mutations. You could also have a lot of new monsters that may have gone extinct by the time Geralt arrives.

Id like to see Lambert, as a protagonist, with his adventures prior witcher 3 or new ones. But as it is now Witcher 3 ended in such a great note it would be a shame to ressurect it.

A Character Customization Witcher...
This will make every gamer's Witcher uniquely different.
Imagine the funness of sharing ' Your Wither' with the rest of'em taking the very same path!
!!! Awesomeness !!!

Pre-defined for me. I'd like to see them have an author write some bridge books to set the stage a few decades or so after B&W and create some new sorceresses, mages, political striff, rulers, allies, enemies, etc. and create the need for a new Witcher - perhaps write about him briefly in the books but otherwise let us take the reigns with him early in his life.

From the five choices of the poll and not seeing Geralt as an option I remembered something that I am sure it will ring a bell: "if I'm to choose between one evil and another, then I prefer not to choose at all." Because Geralt of Rivia is my choice as the protagonist for the next Witcher game.
