No. I replaced the "NewNetworkClient.dll" file from the Enhanced Edition with the one from patch 2.0, then tried to start the game and got many "Cannot find entry point [X] in dynamic link library" errors. Then I checked the files and the executable and discovered that some functions use slightly different names in the Enhanced Edition, causing these errors, so then I hex-edited the executable to make it point to the right functions in the old "NewNetworkClient.dll" file and it worked, exactly like version 2.0 of the game worked for me perfectly without the need of any "fix".LicaonKter said:so you just edited the file at random and it just works right ?
Thank you very much link1264!link1264 said:Petty, to quote Bette Midler, "Have I ever told you you're my hero?" Because you are. It's not perfect, but I can finally run the game again. Thank you so much for all the hard work and for sharing it with us.
I just got done making a thread about it over at GOG so all the players over there can use your fix as well. I am sure they will appreciate it as much as I have.
Glad to hear!JackM said:Work for me with the GOG free backup version.
Yes that's it, but don't forget to make a backup of your "witcher2.exe" file first.Spartanpanic said:So im a little confuse on how exactly to apply this fix. Just extract the file you linked to the witcher 2 bin?
Does the operating system(I have windows 7) matter?Petty said:Yes that's it, but don't forget to make a backup of your "witcher2.exe" file first.
My "fix" doesn't affect the launcher at all so you must have a different problem, anyway try to run the "witcher2.exe" instead.kp said:*side note, wtf is with this forum. If you type something in fast reply, switch a tab in chrome or minimize chrome all your text is gone. never had that happen before.
Anyways, this does not work. I get an error that says that the Witcher 2 launcher application has encountered a problem and needs to close....

I don't have a Windows 7 machine to test, I suggest you try it and tell us if it works or not.Spartanpanic said:Does the operating system(I have windows 7) matter?

Same OS as mine, thankpfnolan said:I used it on Win7 64bit and it works fine.
The launcher tries to connect to the CDPR servers using the DLL changed by Petty. SO you can't use the launcher anymore, I'm afraid.Scorpio72 said:But only the witcher.exe, now the Launcher start with an Error.
Just to clarify. My fix does not modify anything related to the launcher. The launcher is still using the original "NewNetworkClient.dll" to work, while the fixed "witcher2.exe" executable now uses the "NetworkClient.dll" file, which is simply a modified and renamed version of the "NewNetworkClient.dll" file from patch 2.0. So you don't have to rename anything inside the "bin" folder (except maybe the original "witcher2.exe" file to keep it safe), just extract the 2 files there. So if your Enhanced Edition launcher worked good before applying my fix then you did something wrong or you have a new and different problem. Anyway, nice it worked for you!Scorpio72 said:Petty, you made my day! This works very fine.
