It's possible they will do this with the expansion or perhaps part of the free DLC I hope they do after game world would be amazing to live in, and perhaps set up a witcher 4. were we are the son/daughter of ciri and we travel worlds.

An ending is the end. That's the whole fucking point of an ending. Deal with it.

Lol, yep exactly. The story of Geralt had come to an end. The elder Dandelion tells you everything that happened to everyone.

The fact that when the game ends, it spawns you in a completely empty Kaer Morhen sets the "depressing" tone. It's just after your big victory, or potential loss, and there isn't anyone to rejoice with or talk to.

That really hits me hard in the heart... it's really depressing :'(
I was hoping to at least see L-san still hanging out there like he said so may be we can get some sad drink and play Gwent together... but no, it was sad and empty!!!

I thought it was fairly obvious that the events in Dandelion's "slideshow" were still some years after Ciri defeated the White Frost. So Geralt could still have expansion adventures immediately after the fight with Eredin that still take place before the slideshow, but won't mess with his endstory.

For instance, an expansion could involve helping Triss set up shop in her new job as mage advisor in Kovir. It would still take place before the ending slides where Geralt is already settled in a house with Triss or Yen, but would obviously have to be after the Wild Hunt's defeat.

Back when I was in grade school, my class traveled to Greece to see the Oracle of Delphi and all that good stuff. It was a fantastic trip, every day was an adventure with booze, intrigue, passion, wonder and great friends.

A few years later, in the first year of high school, my new class had to vote where we would like to go on a trip. Unfortunately Greece got voted in so I had to go back there with people who were still essentially strangers.

I remember walking around the Oracle site, sulking around Acropolis. Every location had a precious memory connected to it. But the people. The people weren't there anymore. The places were the same, yet everything had changed.

WHY YOU DO THIS CDPR!?

Witcher 3 post-game depression

Anyone else feeling really depressed after finishing Witcher 3?

I feel hollow and empty inside.

I wish I could live in that world forever.

My life seems so dull in comparison.

Thoughts? Or is this just me?

Also check out this Triss montage if you have time:':) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUbAVVOeW0s&feature=youtu.be

i know that feel bro, i felt exactly the same after the ending, besides, the first time i completed the game i had the worst ending, so it was very sad, i liked to be in that world, but the end will come eventually, so, i really hope cdprojektred is working on some sort of post-game-depression-expantion to solve this,

your nickname is because of the game?

I know what you mean, and it happens after every game that I love. This time I am trying to stave it off as long as possible. Done one complete play through already and at least 4 unfinished games where I started over again.

Same here. Cant wait for the expansions. If there is a downside to playing a fantastic game it would be post game blues

Great discussion. I should make this point: the fact that we feel depressed kinda shows how great and perfect Witcher 3 actually is. It shows that we actually care for the characters, and if there's one thing this game does phenomenally well it is character development.

I really hope that future expansions will feature more of Triss and/or Yennifer. The ending for me really hurt. I was all alone, stranded, with no one to rejoice with. Kaer Morhen was deserted. I felt alone, empty and depressed. I ran out of the castle and had to quit my game. I just couldn't take it.

:(

Well there you have it, your next aim should be to get the best ending. Try to play it again and think over your decisions.

EDIT:

Your depression comes more because of the bad ending rather than the end of game. If you finish it with better ending or the best one then you'll feel satisfied. I felt the same when I finished Mass Effect 2 for the first time and had to see dead bodies of two of my comrades, it felt a whole lot better when I achieved best ending on second play. :)

I felt exactly this way... real life, sadly is not this much fun, purposeful, or justified. I felt bad due in large part to the end, but also the fact that the Ciri quests, where I had to be a good father figure to her, were really the only metric that the game judged me by
. If you had seen my choices, and I could explain them, I think I should have got the most fantastic ending... instead, I'm in the swamp, potentially dying.

Lets face it, after 250 hours on a quest to save Ciri, I really really didn't deserve what I got... in fact, most players don't... you spend the entire game caring for this character, and then it gives you an ending like that... it's not really fair.

I told Ciri to calm down in the Avallac'h's lab because I knew that the she-elf was lying... I knew that Avallac'h was not the enemy. I also went with Ciri in support as she spoke to the Lodge of Scorceresses... saying "It's up to Ciri to decide"... I went to bury Skjall... I drank a round with Ciri after the battle of Kaer Mohren...

So I ask you? Why were those bad choices... they weren't... and I got punished for it. 250 hrs of gamplay to be left hollow.

The other big factor is the world without Yen,Triss, and Ciri left to talk to and see... it reminded me of the Lord of the Rings : Return of the King, where Frodo leaves on a ship, never to return... that movie gives me that same feeling. It's like, why don't these characters want to keep in touch, why would they leave, after all they have been through.

Anyway, I'm right there with you and I think that CDPR should value those conversation choices a bit higher than they do.

Actually, I got a decent ending. Since I had relationships with both Triss and Yennifer, I was single. But Ciri survived. Geralt continued to do Witcher work.

It was more being left alone in Kaer Morhen at the end that hit me hard. I mean, you play with these characters for so long. You develop relationships with them. And then they're gone all of a sudden. Nobody to rejoice with. Leaves you feeling empty and hollow.

dude it's exactly the same

Whatever ending you get you get the same post-game world, and you feel just as depressed. Trust me, I got the best ending possible (IMO) and am in the same depressed mood - and it's not just me, check out the many people in the Immersion Destroyer thread.

The same feeling when my favorite TV show "How I Met Your Mother" came to end.
It's suck to have something so wonderful had come to end, and re-watch or re-play doesn't get the same excitement . . .

I agree with you 100% here.

The good/bad ending thing isn't what makes people depressed. It's the fact that you are stranded alone in Kaer Morhen, without Triss or Yennifer or any of the other characters who you came to know and love throughout weeks of play (which feel like years). When I ran out of Kaer Morhen to the travel post, I just couldn't play anymore. I exited the game.

I think this is a perfect game. Character development is pin point. The fact that you feel for these characters and that you feel depressed after they're gone is rock solid proof. However, I really hope that in future DLC they allow you to interact with these characters again, if only for a brief moment.
