Post Your Character Builds

As I'm playing through The Witcher 2 for the first time on my Xbox360, I'm trying to get to understand and master this game. I'm already preparing for my 2nd playthrough, which is going to be a Dark Mode playthrough. I think I can handle it, but I need the help from you experienced PC players.

What I would love to see, is how you guys developed your character and why you chose that specific build. I want to know proper builds for a Dark Mode playthrough. I'm currently playing with most of my talent-points spend in Swordsmanship, but I've heard good things about the Alchemy path too.

I don't care which character development path you chose, I'm just curious to see how to approach different paths for a Dark Mode playthrough.

So screenshots from your build, your tips and your thoughts on specific builds are all welcome here!

This is what I did for first Dark Mode Playthrough:
For Dark Mode I don't really recommend spending points on so much vitality points like I did. Is much better vigor points/regeneration, +damage of whatever you are going to use more, skills you are most confortable with (riposte, dodge, parry, signs, daggers...), damage reduction, and reach the top of TWO paths I think... In this way you can use adrenaline frequently.

The next playthrough I'll try to go almost pure Alchemy with Quen/Axii for Magic, Dodge/Parry/Riposte for Swordmanship and both Vigor/Parry for Training, just to try because I never maxed Alchemy XD

I finished the game in Dark Mode just yesterday actually, it was my 4th playthrough and first time playing through the EE.
Honestly I've never really tried to come up with a "perfect build" not even when I started the Dark Mode, I have tried all the skill trees however and the swordsmanship is my favorite as it befits my play style most.
The most important skills to me are actually the first three skills in Swordsmanship, Riposte, Feet Work and Position, without them I would've visited the game over screen much more often than I did.
Whirl also came in handy when fighting larger groups such as the harpies in CH2 as it keeps the enemies around you away so they can't flank you.

I played with pure alchemy and it has one big flaw. Often you can't use potions (for example fight with Draugir), so sometimes your skills are completely useless. But it was my favorite build anyway. The most enjoyable for sure.

I was thinking to build my character in such a way that I unlock as many mutate-able talents as possible, so I can buff Geralt with greater mutagens as much as possible, wich should, in theory, make Geralt pretty damn strong! Is this a smart approach or not? Which talents are mutate-able by the way?

It's not good. Greater mutagens are very rare and it's possible that you won't get any interesting greater mutagen through whole game. They don't give that big buff anyway. Greater mutagen of vitality gives you 10 HP or something like that T_T. Only cool mutagen is mutagen of power that add 1-3 dmg but it's very very rare. I got one in full play through.

Well I just got ~104K pts on arena mode by pretty much going full swordsmanship

I upgraded to Quen 3, then got to the Swordsmanship "end talents" as fast as possible then worked backwards.

If you go to the Arena you can at least see how 2 of the 4 builds will unfold. (4th being a mixture of all IMO)

I farmed Greater Power mutagens with my Alchemy specced Geralt. OMG is it fun to kill everyone in one hit.

I also heard about people that farmed them on nekkers or drowners. There are ways to get it, but only for very patient people. ;)

Alchemy's bomb and potion duration skills are the best ones really. Swordsman should get the most points and a few points in magic to buff out sign strength, if you want the easiest time on Dark.
