That's the file that will be added by day 1 patch.

Also, did you use galaxy to install it ?

Did it download anything or just give you that message?

As Dark says, that's probably the missing activation file.

Don't think it's the missing activation patch because the game should still decompress and install without it.

Speaking as someone who played it safe (I dabble in "beta" enough as it is in various tech) and downloaded with GOG downloader, I did NOT encounter this warning dialog. So if that's the case for you, I would remove and try downloading/installing again. Cannot speak for a galaxy install though.

Galaxy install is fine, i am currently using it to play various games, didn't notice any problems and those that I did i reported them.

Also CDPR(or was it GoG team?) did say that there will be a Day 1 patch for the game to add the missing files, I believe that it's the same with Steam.

That does sound like a missing part, not just the Day 1 completer. You're at the start of the installer, not the end.

Look around and see what did get downloaded. You should have an executable installer and 6 archive parts (.bin files).

I chickened out, use the GOG Downloader instead of Galaxy, and got a clean download. Installing this goes all the way through the installer, then tells you the game can't be played yet.

Then you should have an installer executable and 6 .bin files, all in the same folder. Launching that installer should not give you that message unless you're missing a file or have them in different folders.

Well, just want to say that you can still download and install the file from GoG Galaxy by simply downloading the installer, after clicking More->Download Extras->You will see an Game installer for The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt(which is 22GB)

Puzzling. That's a complete file set, indeed. But it looks from that shot like you have at least three copies of the installer (the one with the name "setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_2.0.0.28 (2 )"). It could be that you have another copy of the installer somewhere else, and that is the one you are trying to run.

(When you download the same file more than once, Windows adds this (1), (2 ), etc. to the file name of the additional copies.)

correct, but that *shouldn't*cause any issues i have 4 executable's for another game used to run slightly different versions of said game, all the launchers are the same and none interfere with the other

---------- Updated at 06:05 AM ----------

woot! after logging off and back onto galaxy, i can DL it via my profile (curiously the store still wants me to buy it though) thanks to everyone who tried to help :)

Yes, however what I suspect is that the one you are running is not one that has all the .bin files in the same folder. Try continuing the install, and it should allow you to specify the location of the files.
