There are different GT 640's; the spec you referenced is for the OEM card, which is not available at retail.

The retail card is 128-bit DDR3.

Hmm .. sorry, I should search more precisely. Now I found 4GB version (http://www.czc.cz/vga-nv-evga-geforce-gt-640-4gb-ddr3-pci-e/119769/produkt?q-category-id=9ht0msjf58gnva96n24a7t1057&q-c-0-f_2027483=sGeForce+GT+640), 128-bit.

Dx10 cards usually run dx9 games(there are not so many dx10 games),so if you have dx10 card, upgrade it to at least gtx 4xx or amd 5xxx

DX10 cards do not have DX11 functionality, so, no. Unless they provide a downgrade mode (and there is no good reason to; DX10 offers no decisive advantage over DX9), you need DX11 support (nVidia Fermi (4xx) and later, AMD Evergreen (5xxx) and later).

This also excludes Windows XP hosts, which cannot run DX11.

Thanks for info, guys. I was hoping to be able to play TW3 on my E8400 (Core2Duo 3.00 GHz), 4GB RAM and ATI 4870 1GB, at least on minimum settings :(/>

I'm about to buy a new notebook and I do hope to play TW3 on at least medium settings (as I did with TW2 on my Samsung R580). Do you think that this Lenovo is gonna be enough?

i7-3630QM (2.4 GHz, 3.4 GHz Turbo, 6 MB Cache)
RAM 16 GB
HD 1000 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M

We have absolutely no information on the requirements for TW3 except for the fact that it will be 64-bit and it will be DX11.

Has the 64 bit even been confirmed? The only source I was able to find that said Red Engine 3 will be 64 bit was Wikipedia, and the source they used was referring to 64 bit HDR, which isn't the same as a 64 bit client.

That said, it makes sense that Red Engine 3 will be 64 bit, since it will only be used for next gen consoles and PC. A 64 bit engine would make for a truly seamless experience in an open World game.

To be honest, I can't remember. Maybe someone else can. I agree that 64-bit HDR is definitely not the same. Maybe I've also made the mistake of thinking that rumour was fact. :(

I really hope some things.

1.To really use 64-bit goodies, not just 64-bit executable
2.Don't be a CPU demanding or a GPU demanding game, use them together
3.I hope they will not screw DX11 to have bad performance/stutter/etc. in DX11 mode (see Dragon Age 2 in DX11 issues, still today, DX9 runt great on DA2)
4.I really hope they manage the CPU and GPU to work optimum(the same usages), i really hope i can max this game on my 680 @1250mhz, without AA or ubersampling.

The essential thing, is how they improved the new RED Engine version, if it's almost the same as the one in Witcher 2 + DX11 and DX11 effects, will be ok, we can run the game proper as Witcher 2.

5.I hope they manage to smooth the open world LOD, AFx16, jaggies, on-the-fly loading textures in while you travel in open world, this is very important, CDPR, look at my post, i know what i am talking !!

if TW3 won't support dual core. I'm screwed. Then I'll have to upgrade my pc to even be able to play the game.

CPU, the minimum is not likely to be a straight dual.

My CPU is a intel core i3 540. @ 3.07 ghz.

Actually maybe I have the bare minimum if those specs would become reality.

Just guessing, but I think dual core will be supported, of course for apropriate level of details. But I don't think 4 cores will be necessary like support of DX 11 (for example).
