I preordered the game on Amazon for PC. Is it possible for me to pre-download the game? I believe I have to wait for the item to come in the mail to get the code before I start downloading it?

This is what I bought on Amazon which is supposed to ship on 12/10.

Those platforms are... something. XP, Vista, and 8 but no 10.

You'll need the code to download, yes.

^ Meaning, it's not possible to pre-download the game, when you've bought the physical copy (which, ironically, is just a sleeve with a code inside).

No, the page is telling you that. Windows 10 will work just fine, while XP or Vista sure wouldn't.

Someone who was writing the description did not know what they were doing. Platforms should be Windows 7 and 10, since those are the only two OS's from Microsoft that support direct X 12. Cyberpunk 2077 needs direct X 12 to run properly. Which is funny since Windows 7 is no longer support by Microsoft for the consumer market, yet Microsoft added direct X 12 support in 2019. One year before it was longer supported. Really strange.

Windows XP officially supports up to direct X 9 and Vista only support up to direct X 11. I believe Windows 8/8.1 also only supports up to direct X 11.2.

I'm still waiting on Amazon to ship my physical PC copy (which I know is just a gog code, but also some other pre-order stuff). I preordered all the way back in April! It's stunning that Amazon didn't have inventory at launch and deeply frustrating that days after launch I'm still in the dark about when (or whether) I'll ever get a copy. They keep telling me it will be a few more days. Of course this time of year (thanks to the repeated delays) even if it does shake loose, I'm not going to be home to play it. So humbug to CDPR for shafting PC gamers with what should probably have been a digital-only sku to begin with and Amazon for their apathy about fulfillment of the biggest game of the year. Amazon doesn't even list themselves as a seller for the item anymore; if they end up canceling, I'm going to be livid. This game was clearly built for PC, yet PC fulfillment feels badly neglected, and I'm stuck on the sidelines. If some of your skus are going to be second-class citizens and badly mismanaged by your retail partners, you're doing your fans a disservice by offering them at all.
