Gotta agree, the tone of the article was very cold, like he didn't give a rats.
Would love for an article to get into more detail about the demo shown. Talk more about the animations, not just of Geralt but the bandits, were they smooth and more believable?
When fighting the bandits, how many were there, what did the others do when Geralt was attacking one of them. Did they circle Geralt, use the environment in any way, multiple attacks at once? What was their reaction to being hit, did they step back, fall over, was their speed or leg movement slowed depending on where they were hit. Was there any dismemberment, or verbal reaction. Talk about the new dynamic combat camera, how did it feel, how did it activate once combat started and was it unnoticeable when going back to normal camera.
What was the scenery like, did it look like many repeating textures, were the environments lush, and if how so, where there many dense bushes, was the scenery littered with various looking trees. Was there much wildlife, insects or wind in play. Describe the path Geralt was walking on, or how he knew where he was meant to go. What was the sound like, was it quiet and you could only here a gust of wind, was it eerie, was their subtle music in the background. If Geralt was walking an incline, did his speed slow and movement animation change. Can that white man jump and if so how high? Did he climb anything etc.
What was the water like, did it crash against the side of the boat. Did it crash up against the shore. Did you have to step in the water to get to the boat, if so did it react properly to you walking through it. Were there creatures nearby the water, or birds flying around. Geralt's sailing animations, was there anything specific about that or simply push forward? Could he choose to row?
What really would be awesome if one of the gaming magazines went in to see this press demo with a couple of people. One to focus their attention on the game and quest, the other to look at the world, the walking, standing, and combat animations, sounds, level design, field of view, weather effects, all the little things. Probably never going to happen, or maybe they've been asked to hold off until the new renderer is in place.
