Previous Save Reward?

+
Preface: I thoroughly enjoyed the game. The story was very good (Keanu is a joy as Silverhand, which, honestly, might have saved the game).

I hate that the game reverts to a previous save after the main story completion. Seems like this is last, last-gen. Someone, somewhere on the dev team had to have advised against that; and whoever that was, she was right. There has to be a way to deal with this. It's an open-world game with extensive crafting that requires grind.

#1 problem: I got to the end of the very compelling story (which i loved) and then spat back out in a time warp that made me feel like my "monumental" decisions (that effected the ending) didn't really matter . . . monumentally. The bottom line is, in an effort to make the story meaningful, this mechanic makes the MOST IMPORTANT story choices feel meaningless. Maybe at that point you give me the ability to create another character and live in this "next-gen" open-world (ish) experience that you've created where V's choices actually matter !!!!!?????!!!!!!!! Maybe V is dead and my newly created character is somehow tied to the events of her life? I dunno, but GEEZ, something more creative than: "congrats for finishing the story, boy your decisions sure were cool. here, revert back to the previous save and enjoy the fact that those decisions are now meaningless if you want to keep playing." (you don't WANT me to keep playing?)

#2 problem: You guys put a semi-robust crafting system in the game that requires a lot of buy-in (collecting materials/specs). This lends itself to "endgame" possibility. Yet, there is literally ZERO endgame. The game spits you back out at the period before the last mission!!!!! This kills immersion in a game that was supposed to be ALL about immersion. As is. I am currently feeling no incentive to play the game. As much work as you all put into this game, that seems like the opposite of the desired response from your customers!?!?!?

#3 problem: All of this signals to me that there was significant disagreement among the Devs as to what type of game this would be. That possibility, in and of itself, is discouraging to me. This just makes me feel bad about the game's potential as a long-term investment.

Sincerely,
V

Just to follow this up:

I don't post on game forums extensively. But, when I do it is usually because I really care about that product and its future. I can count on one hand the amount of times I have posted on a game's forums in the last five or so years.

Additionally, if my comments were all flowers and sunshine then they wouldn't be very helpful.

best,

oh boy, don't get me started with that reload to last checkpoint thing. For me this is the game killer right there, no proper closure, no going back to normalcy, I can't even taste/enjoy the results of the choices I made... and where that would place V in the world afterward and for me that completely destroys replayability. Hopefully NC is going to open up post-main game in the future.
