Problem unpacking SAV file

Long story short: I would like to swap my talents a bit but I'm unable to extract (unpack) my SAV file using Gibbed's RED Tools Unpack utility. When I use the utility on my SAV file nothing happens at all...

Any ideas as of why this might happen?

edit: Really? An achievement for posting?...

rename your sav to dzip. That should work iirc but won't help you either because there's no working savegame editor, afaik.

Did you try out modifying abilities in geralt_basic.xml?

Take it as a "welcome". (maybe it shall prevent newcomers from remaining one-time-posters:D)

Hmm, yes I've seen those links before.

I don't think I can achieve what I want by editing geralt_basic.xml file, as basically I want to UNPICK 1 talent spent in Hardiness (ie. decrease it from 1 to 0) - I don't think it's possible by editing the XML, is it?

And I've already tried renaming the sav file to DZIP - doesn't work.

Here's the file in question if someone would like to try:
Code:

nope, it doesn't store the actual values. Those should be found in the savegames.

look in
D:\Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves
for the unpacked file. It's size is about 11.4 MB.

Nothing. For the reference: I copied QuickSave.sav file to Gibbed.RED Tools folder, renamed the sav file to dzip and did the following from the command prompt:

Gibbed.RED.Unpack.exe Quicksave.dzip

Like I said - nothing happens, I'm just getting another command prompt - here's the pic:

here's your unpacked Quicksave.sav:
http://www.uploadmb.com/dw.php?id=1416957785

edit: guess, your problem is as simple as that: unpack tries to unpack the sav file into your Witcher 2\gamesaves folder where it can't overwrite the existing sav (that's called "fail save programming" but for some reason unpack fails to omit a decent warning).
Renaming this.sav into .dzip should solve that.

Thanks for the file, however surprisingly I was able to unpack the SAV myself on another PC - I noticed that unpacker creates a "Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves" folder at the root of the drive you use the utility from and unpacks the file in there. This is a very bad coding practice (it should just unpack the file in the current folder) but anyway...

I got the save file which is ~11.5 MB but it doesn't seem it's easy (or even possible) to modify talents in it, looks quite complicated.

Oh well, I guess that's it then. Thanks again for the help!
