Problem with Nvidia Hair

I have irritating problem with hair and beard in my game. Beard or parts of hair can randomly disappeared from Geralt during playing or watching cutscenes. I have this from few patches. Someone have this problem?

It's a well known issues that affects all textures, not simply the beard. It manifests itself differently on different systems.

Any chance of a screenshot?
I personally haven't had any issues with the hair, running on my machine it's been fine, for some reason it seems a little off colour and clips a bit too much for my liking and is effected by wind even when in shelter, but that is all the issues I have had with it to date.

This is heavy to capture on screenshot. For example during cutscene i have beard but few seconds later my Geralt is shaved. After reload save beard appear.
but if i will have this during game again i try to record this.

The only thing that seems to have any noticeable effect is raising your TextureMemoryBudget =XXXX as close to 1600 as you can. You need to ensure you have enough VRAM left over after raising the value however, meaning people with less than 3 GB of VRAM are out of luck, as the default value for your system is probably close to your maximum. The tweak does not seem affect every system the same way. My system benefits enormously from the tweak, with any sort of pop-in kept to a bare minimum. Others receive no benefit at all.

As of 1.08+, the pop-in has gotten much, much worse across the board. Even with the tweak, I am getting more graphical errors than ever before. There is nothing to do aside from that, unfortunately.

On a side note, take some time to research your issues before posting. This is a very commonly discussed topic on threads all over the internet.

I will try this mod out later on! That's the sort of simple fix that usually works excellently. 100 Brownie Points for the modding community.

After reading the description/posts. I'm a bit unclear if it functions with HW, without HW, or either way.

It's as I said, @Qantum. Widely known issue; work is ongoing. It's a result of the game's engine. You can try the texture memory tweak. If that doesn't work, have some chocolate and play the game with your beard. Without your beard. With it. Without.

I hate what HairWorks has done to his hair, it's absolutely dreadful. There is a mod that disables the effect on Geralt, but leaves it for monsters. You get glorious hair and glorious monster mane, and such. It's on the Nexus, and no frame drops at all, and take it from me since I'm running a 270x and we all know anything NVIIDIA tends to run like shit for AMD.

I don't care for Hairworks, in general. Even on NPCs and monsters, the hair movement is too overdone. It's like every snark and grumpkin uses Hollywood salon conditioner treatments. Yes, their bite is poisonous and they smell like bigfoot's crotch, but their silky hair cascades in waves over their shoulders -- and look at that body and bounce! (Pretty good for a demon that just crawled out of a swamp cave, huh?)

I like the normal hair on everything. It just seems to gel with the rest of the world more smoothly. Nvidia Hairworks is proprietary, anyway. I'm sure it will be much better (and faster) in future titles.

On wolfs and griffins it looks fantastic, without hairworks on wolfs it looks like they have no hair @ all, same with bears.

I'll concede the griffin argument. Especially while it's feeding, the way the hair moves is brilliant.

Wolves, I just don't care for. A wolf's or bear's hair does not "blow in the breeze" like that. It's the constant motion of hair that bugs me. That, and the sheen it applies to everything. And the noodles that form when its raining...(great idea, but it's not quite cooked all the way through yet.)

Still prefer tressFX 2.0 over HairWorks / Fur.

Remember the effects it had in FC4? Fur looked insanely fuzzy, no wind being generated at all and the fur goes bonkers. I haven't noticed too much of an eyesore for Witcher 3, aside from Geralts noodle pasta hair, which is why that mod is glorious to disable it.

I am very happy I found this thread and cannot wait to try out the mod. It's incredibly immersion-breaking to stand beside NPC's that have hair made of plastic (especially in cut scenes). I'll post my findings once I'm home.

Has anyone tried this mod? Does it impact FPS performance at all?
