Problems with Textures/Graphics

Hello. I recently bought TWEE from Steam as I've been wanting to try it out for some time. I installed the game after quite the long download last night, and have attempted to play it today. However, during the opening cutscene in the forest, I noticed the graphics start to get a little weird. I don't have any screenshots of the specific time, but after I skip the cutscene due to this irregularity.... well, this happens:

I run the game on low everything as a just in case. The game itself runs smooth except for this weird texture/graphic problem. It progressively gets worse as I stand there. I'm running resolution on 1366x768, and the following is my dxdiag report:

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time :)

EDIT: After reviewing the only other topic I could find like this, I would like to inform anyone opting to help that I currently have my latest video drivers, DivX, and C++ redistributable. I run the game without any Anti-Aliasing, at 2x anisotropic filtering, and low/off of pretty much everything else. I'm going to try to uninstall/reinstall, as much as I really don't want to as it'll take forever on Steam, but I hope it helps.

First i would do a validation of the game cache . Open Steam>Library>game right click select properties and then select validate game cache . Do you happen to know what kid of temps you`re getting while gaming ? Also if you go through CCC set everything to application controlled that is possible .

Thank you Tommy for your response!

I'm currently re-installing Witcher on Steam, but I'll keep in mind checking the cache files as soon as it's done (in like... 4 hours ): ) I've been trying pretty much everything and anything that anyone recommends doing in order to get the game to run steady, and I admit I'm kind of just following directions without really knowing what's going on. So forgive my newbish-ness, but how do I see what temps I'm getting? And how do I set everything to application controlled?

Temps can be found through afterburner . http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm Even though it was made for Nvidia cards it works for ATI cards as well . Just set it to monitor card temps for the OSD (On Screen Display) and then when you`re playing a game there will be an overlay on the game screen showing what the temps are in real time .

If you open the CCC usually by right clicking any empty area on your desktop . There should be a tab for 3D settings . These are set to application controlled for most of them . Here is a link that may help

Thank you again Tommy!

I'm downloading Afterburner and after realizing that CCC was my AMD Vision Center, I got that all fixed up. The game itself is still downloading, and it will probably continue like this through the rest of the evening. As soon as it finishes I'll do everything you've listed and I'll let you know what's going on :)

But my system specs themselves aren't the problem at all right? I wasn't sure if I could run it using a laptop, and thought I might have to try our family's desktop computer, but if it's not the specs then I'm good to use my laptop yeah?

You should be able to run the witcher with no problems . I would start with medium settings and work your way up the ladder .

If I'm understanding this correctly, while the game is running I am getting 7-12 GPU Usage with 7 being what it always drop down to, but 12 being about the average "highest". I've validated my game files, set everything to "Application Controlled", turned off UAC, turned off my avast! Antivirus, and the game continues to do this. ): Also, for some reason, I'm unable to see the OSD while in the game and had to alt-tab out of it, just to see what MSI Afterburner had to say ):

It displays that I can turn on a graph/OSD for GPU Usage, as well as memory clock, core clock , framerate, and memory usage. There isn't one for Temps. Also, I managed to get a picture of the actual GPU usage during gameplay after pausing it immediately after I alt-tabbed.

GPU Usage:

If you right click the afterburner icon in the system tray and select show then in the upper right there should be a set of what appears to be gears if you click that you should be presented with the screen i posted earlier .

Just trying to be certain that you card isn`t overheating causing the graphic malfunction .

this is the same screen on my end:

I just updated and also installed Kombuster, which seems to have a temp thing on it. Is there a way to set that up so I can see it when I try the game?

Afterbruner has the OSD that displays the temp thing on all 3D programs. Kombustor just tests your card.

Strange. I just loaded up Total War Medieval 2, and it had a similar problem. The OSD displayed on that one, and it started happening when my GPU went up to 100% usage. The game wasn't lagging or anything, and it wasn't as bad as Witcher, but it still happened. The units seemed to be missing large chunks out of their models, and their spears were creating long-ish images. I've never had this happen before when I've played this game.

The only thing I can think of that would have been different since the last time I've played (And before I played Witcher at that) was I updated my driver. Could this be a cause at all?

Yes it could definitely be a cause . The newest is not necessarily the best i personally would go back 2 or 3 versions . Also doing a clean install of the video drivers is recommended .

That was what it was. I uninstalled the drivers, re-installed, and bam I can play just fine :) Thanks so much for all the help~!
