Professor contradiction in books and game?

I have just begun reading Times of Anger.. There is
our old friend Professor sent after Ciri and Yen. Geralt kills him at a roadside inn while in the game which is set 5 years after the completion of the main saga he is seen safe and sound healthier than ever.
Afaik mr. Sapkowsky himself reviewed the storyline for the game and I don't know how he could possibly have missed such a significant plot contradiction...BTW the books are awesome. Best fantasy cycle I ever read. Thank God I managed to complete only 2 chapters of the game and then sold my box because of some hardcore stuttering in the 3rd chapter, so I'm going to assemble a new, more powerful one after I complete the saga. As I see it now everything becomes so familiar after you have read the books and you already are familiar with a number of npcs, like Shani.Lol, could have never imagined myself spending some $1500 for the sole purpose of being able to run a single game smoothly. :)Great work by the developers.

They're different characters. The Professor from the book is called "Profesor" in Polish, while the Professor from the game is "Magister" in Polish. Although Magister is obviously partly based on the original Professor.
