Is it better to kill the Frightener or to go with Triss to the Lab?Frightener: You get a red meteorite.Lab: You get a sapphire from the mage.Thanx

I've played past it and took the frightener path... the red meteor would be more useful (I think). I get the feeling that the Prologue is so simple that it doesn't prepare you for how involved the game becomes later.(It was a pretty stupid question for a first post, I guess ::) )Mark

actually I think it does make a difference, I choose the potion path and did not get the red metorite,Had I gotten the red metorite I could of made the sword before I fought the beast. If you dont fight the frightener you dont get it and dont get the third piece intime to use the sword against the beast.when I fought the beast I had a really hard time.I did beat it finnaly but after many deaths.

Many decisions I notice not only have an immediate impact but also affect the plot 5-20 hours later in the game, that is the real beauty of this game!

You really don't need it. Yes the best is hard; on my first attempt it took me about ten reloads to do it. Second time I played the game it took me less than 5 seconds to kill, got lucky with knockdown -> instant kill ^.^

Which path you take in the Prologue will make a huge difference in the plot of the game. Quit thinking about measley instant rewards like meteorite. You generally find or are given the best weapons in the game, forging is really pointless. The beast can be put down instantly and repeatedly with the Aard sign. No special sword needed.

from that point of view ingame choices does not lead you enywhere but outro. If you ask what to chose to make it easier it is better to choose frightener if you want to forge a good sword. And if You are just curious what is this all about then the fight with Savola will spare You couple of minutes.

Yes, it's true but the alternativ is spectre oil which makes a good job against the Beast though it's coated on the steel swords.

What "huge difference in the plot" are you talking about? I've played the game two times, each time making a different choice. There's the immediate reward (the red meteorite or the sapphire), and the fact that, if you choose the Frightener route, you get to fight an additional monster on the bridge in Chapter I. There are no other consequences; Triss still treats you exactly the same.

I hink the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Theres no HUGE difference, just some story plots changed around, like the bridge scene, the cave scene, and some glossary info. Ive only gotten to chapoter 3, then restarted (actually had my game erased) and am in chapter 3 again so I dont know if it affects anything at endgame. But I only noticed a small difference in the above. Also, I had 3 meteorite pieces without doing the frightener. Im unsure HOW... but I had it. Think I bought one from Haren for the 3rd.

Story changed and the cave scene? Sounds interesting. Can you be more specific, add a spoiler or two? :)
