Prologue bug, Archpriest Axii

When you first meet the archpriest in the prologue asking where the King's children are, you use Axii on him. Well apparently my Axii failed, but the archpriest still acted like it worked and like he was under the hex. In the bottom left of the screen it even said it failed.

Not sure if it's supposed to be possible to fail but it happened, and the archpriest acted like it didn't. Not a big deal and I almost didn't even notice it.

I think that bug was in the originla game already. As far as I know, the dialouge hex can never fail at all. So the notice is probably broken.

Yup, I think that the failure is that it shows as "Failed" rather than that he still responds. This particular hex HAS to pass, doesn't it?

I noticed this as well. I don't know if my game glitched or something but I also noticed no matter where I aimed the spyglass Geralt always said "3 degrees" and Foltest always missed with the ballista. I never had this issue before and I reloaded and no matter where I aimed I always got this result.

I have been able to get the ballista to hit every time in both 2.0 and EE. So if the ballista is bugged, it's not bugged for everybody.
Aim for Count Etcheverry's head with the center-left crosspoint.

But yes, the Archpriest is bugged. If Axii fails, you shouldn't get anything useful (and probably have to rough him up: there's lots of roughing up of priests going on). But you get the same response as you got with a successful Axii in earlier versions, and you now get an "Axii hex failed" message that doesn't seem to match the event.

Hmmm Galdiator49, thats strange, for I was able to hit the wall, and count Echevery just fine.
Anyways, that Axii check failed with me too. Even though the priest just spit all the information necessary :) !

Are you telling me that there is a platform specific bug that makes Axii always fail on the priest?

I don't think it's necessarily platform-specific. I suspect that they reduced the odds of success of these kinds of hexes, and this is an unintended consequence. Anyway, at least he still gives you the info, so we have a mildly-annoying inconsistency rather than a game-breaker.

As long as you can pull it off, I guess you can replay that scene until you do.
I kinda think it is good if they makes certain persuasions tougher, it gives you more incentive to use and train such skills more and makes choices and character development more important.

Agreed !
Before the EE I felt that Axii was way to powerful.
It never really failed, at least not in my experience.
Like I mentioned in another post, it seems that a lot of thing have been re balanced.

Oh well I guess it was just a bug with my game for some reason. Just wanted to make sure to see if anybody else had this issue.

Yeah, this glitch pissed me off so much that I haven't played in several days. Even though the dialogue proceeds as normal, you don't get the additional axii ability level since it counts as having "failed." I also encountered the aforementioned ballista glitch, which I managed to circumvent by aiming far to the right of Etcheverry. Is there any way to edit my save so that I get the point in axii? It may not be pivotal but the fact I didn't get the point really irks me.

This is most likely the incorrect place to post this...oh well.

So, during the prologue when you enter the monastery and the dialogue with Tailles and the Archbishop initiates;you are given the use of the Axii sign as your only choice. When I use it it fails every time, I've reloaded to my last save and tried it several times.
All have ended in,

"Axii Hex Failed!"

The dialogue proceeds as if I succeeded, however, it does not update your abilities in the character development menu.
Like I said, I have tried this several times and I've obtained the same results every time.

I'm curious if this is a common issue at the moment or if anyone has read any news for hotfix plans or anything of that nature.

Thank you

On PC
sorry for not clarifying
