In TW:EE I didn't get the option to spar with Eskel, despite talking to Lambert about the fighting styles. I tried before giving the potion to Triss, but forgot to check after giving it to her. Has it been removed, or did I just get the order wrong?

I got the option, so it hasn't been removed. I don't remember exactly when I did it, though.

you must speak to him after giving Triss the potion, so you must not finish your conversation with her. Do not go to the funeral until you speak to Eskel and that should do it.Refusing sex might also cause you to miss that opportunity. ...It's not crucial though, you get the quest regardless when you do your first "real" fight eace:
