Pruning save files

+
I tried to delete some game saves by via file explorer but when I subsequently loaded a game it quit to desktop. Is there a way to efficiently remove old files apart from the rather tedious one-by-one in the save/load game menu?

On a separate note, is it possible to save the game to a drive other than C:\?

I always went to Documents\The Witcher\saves and deleted however many saves that I wanted to with no adverse effects. Note that the older saves will be at the bottom of the list.

As for your other request yes it is possible and it`s basically the same procedure for 7, 8 and 8.1 and 10 but it has to be done in a very specific manner . Just make sure that you understand how to do it fully before attempting it.

Thank you Tommy. I didn't expect The WItcher 1 save game files to be so bloated - it's taking up almost 3 GB and my C:\ drive is an SSD with rather limited storage.
I realise the save game I tried to load was a save that was made over an earlier save, so I thought it looked odd that instead of the thumbnail with the relevant pic and area (the swamp) it was showing a black thumbnail and an earlier location (Hairy Bear Inn). So somehow it's not quite safe to just delete saves made over existing ones. Fresh ones should be good though.
