PS Chinese Translation (north america region)

+
Hello. I have been playing the Witcher 3 on PC in Chinese. After the next-gen update, CDPR was kind enough to update an offical Chinese translation, both subtitle and voice dialogue. I am living in Canada and recently bought a PS5 and want to play the witcher on PS5, so I bought a PS4 complete edition disc and thinking I could continue the journey with the cloud sharing of saved game. Then I found that North American version PS disc does not have the chinese voice and subtitle in it, and I can only play in English. Surely I could play in English but I need to learn who's who and what's what from the start (Also, Chinese translation added some language-specific humour in it and I don't want to lose it). Could I suggest CDPR to provide language pack for languages that are not supported in some specific region, like providing chinese language pack in North America store? I think that's not a hard thing to do because I am not asking for a new language but just asking for the languages and voices that's already there to be applicable to me.

Unfortunately, that's not going to be possible. If that was an option it would have happened several years ago.
However, with console games it's always important to check the available languages before getting a game.

Unfortunately, it has likely nothing to do with CDPR themself. I assume that even if they wanted to, they shouldn't be allowed to do so :(

Beside I wonder why?
For physical copies, I can understand to lock some markets, disc space/capacity,... But apparently, even digital versions are localized and doesn't include all languages.
(not blaming CDPR anyway, it's the same for most if not all games on consoles).

Yes, now I know that. Didn’t realize that because I have been playing games on steam and PC games don’t have this problem. Also I am curious why as well because I bought a Ghost of Yotei North America disc at the same time and it has Chinese in its Canadian version disc. Actually I am posting this because the news says the Witcher 3 will have another update sometime this year, and maybe this suggestion could be reported to CDPR and the language pack could come as part of the update. Thanks for replying anyway.

The thing is that there have been lots of forum discussions already regarding adding certain languages to certain console regions, which is why several years after the release of the games language changes are unlikely.

It‘s probably a question for the people responsible for the distribution and promotion in North America, so maybe Warner Bros. But unfortunately, I have no concrete information to offer.

I also don't have definitive answers, but I do think it's extremely unlikely that the language availability is going to be reshuffled at this point. The regions offer the languages available in that region, and that's it.

I think your best bet is to go back to the store and explain the situation there. Maybe they can refund it / give store credit. At the very least, they may be able to trade it in. They may even know how to get a regional disc copy that includes Chinese.

Also, be aware -- depending on where you presently live, the Playstation online D/L markets are locked to that region only. Physical discs should still work, so you can try to get a physical copy of the game from a region that includes Chinese. Why is this important? Be sure you're getting the version of the game you want on that physical disc. You will NOT be able to download updates or DLCs for it while in a different region.

(I know this is a pretzel made of knots. Sorry.)

OK, thank you so much for your reply, and no worries I could just go back to PC
