PS4 Weird Joystick behavior

PS4 Weird Joystick behavior

So I just started the PS4 Version after it unlocked and immediately I noticed an odd behavior when rotating the camera at an angle other than straight horizontal or vertical. When pushing the right joystick gently in certain directions there isnt a smooth motion, but a stepping one. Can other people confirm this ? I think this needs to be fixed.

This is the 4th post / thread I've seen in the past 15 min. concerning problems with the PS4 version. Lag / framerate, Can't climb ladders, infinite loading screen at the beginning of the game and now camera movement hanging up......WTF is going on???? I am / was going to purchase this game tomorrow on release but I think I'll have to wait and see what other people report in on. Thanks for the post man and hope this problem doesn't plague the entire game for you. :)

It's a frame pacing problem, like TV judder. Maybe a 30fps cap would help?

No, thats no frame pacing problem, the PS4 has a 30fps cap in place as I recall. It has to do with the behavior of the camera, the other thread has a useful video of this. It only happens if you press the joystick gently in a direction other that straight vertical or horizontal. try it, push the stick lightly up when rotating right for example.

Huh. Well you get the same juddery effect rotating the camera on the Xbox version. Probably more pronounced. A framerate cap isn't the solution then.

Same here ...on ps4. And it is not a frames problem. the screen jerks only when rotating the camera slowly.

I have exactly the same problem on PC. I checked it on both of my controllers. Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers both make camera stutters when right stick is moved gently.
To be precise it happens on decreasing camera speed movement - in other words when analog stick is returning to the neutral position. it looks like movement stops for a fraction of a second before reducing camera movement speed instead of fluent decrease.

I'm 100% sure it's not FPS problem as I use frame counter on and it never drops below 60FPS during those controller/camera related stuttering moments.

The game is truly unplayable because of it!

same on ps4, game breaking, ill comment on every damn thread till they speak up and say its going to be fixed, ive lost alot of respect for cdpr for this as it just cannot go unnoticed, unless they didnt bother playing the game at all, they have been very silent as well wich worries me

this is obviously a big problem and should be adressed asap

I ask myself, how can this go unnoticed ? I noticed this in the first minute or so when I played this. Is there something different from dev kits to retail consoles concerning controls or what ?

Just adding my post to agree with horrid camera control. I hope they patch it quick. Its a beautiful game and can't be enjoyed as such with a jerky camera. At full horizontal tilt its not bad, but when your barely tilting the right stick to move the camera slow it's unbearable. (Ps4) I'm sure all platforms are plagued just the same. I will wait to play until its fixed. Please hear us out CDPROJECTRED.

Is it just the camera rotation or do you get the same stutter moving forwards?

Its just camera stutter, as far as I noticed.

Having the same issue (also, sorry, but my linebreaks don't work for some weird reason, so I have to use workarounds)... It happens almost every time the camera pans/is turned. Even when walking and turning or turning the camera perfectly horizontally. Even during loading screens or the "Geralt wakes up after Nightmare" cutscene... The slower the pan/turn, the more obvious it gets. If you circle the camera around the player, it will eventually be less or even go away, but if you switch direction, it comes back with a vengeance..... Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEloiaMtsQI ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRWucJBiq00 ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLU6Q7C3xuo .... Not so sure it's not Framepacing or frame rate issues. Turning the camera quickly produces a blur effect, but turning slowly keeps all the details... Whatever the reason, I too am unable to play the game like that. Gave me a major headache last night..... Tweeted several times to CDProjekt and Witchergame but no response or acknowledgement.... Very disappointing.

It seems like the same problem across all three platforms.

Appears worse on Xbox maybe because of the unlocked framerate.

yeah thats what worries me, thinnk of all the time they had, 2 delays wich means theyd of tested it and could not have not noticed this problem, wich means they think its either ok as is, or it just cant be fixed.

what you say about the motion effect makes sense too, because the details dont get blurred when panning slowly, and i notice it doesnt do it when you turn quickly in one direction till you move back in the other direction slowly like you say, it worries me now that it cant be fixed.

Far as I understood, the day one patch removed the FPS lock, so the stutter might be because it goes up to 40 FPS then back to 30. But I can't test if that is actually true. Hopefully Eurogamer will do a test and post the results........... If it can't be fixed... well, it makes the game unplayable for me.... PS4 --- Digital Version ---

I also have audio problem where you cannot hear any dialog including render cut scenes. Restarting console fixed it but I encountered again after coming back from suspend mode.
