PS5 cross platform "cannot download the cloud save."

+
Hi,
Recently, I encountered the problem that my PS5 cannot download the cloud save from Steam.

1. Before I had succeeded in loading the cross-platform save from Steam on PS5.
2. I can see the cloud save in PS5 and previewed screencap on the right.
3. When I try to load the cloud save, it loads for a long time(1-2 minutes), but eventually cannot download the cloud save.
4. I had tried to reconnect to the internet for my PS5, but it didn't work.
5. I had tried to reinstall the Witcher 3, but it didn't work.
6. I have Witcher 3 completed edition 4.04 on both PS5 and Steam.

Anyone can help? This is annoying:ROFLMAO:

Hi,
Just to be sure, do you use or ever used mods on your PC?
Even if you uninstalled/removed/disabled them, mods data generally remain in save files. And trying to load a "modded" save files on console(s) generally end either by a fail or a crash of the game.

If you don't use and never used mods, try to create a brand new save on your PC (not overwriting an old one), let the game uploading on CDPR servers (the save will have the little cloud icon on it) and try to load this one on your PS5.

Hi,
It reminds me that I did activate the mods in the CDPR launcher... but I don't even know what kind of mods exactly I used. I already deactivated it, but it's still not working...

Do I have to wipe the mods' record somewhere, or reinstall the PC one? please guide me, thank you so much !

So first, you should try to perform a clean install of the game on your PC, to be sure there is no remaining mod data in the game files.

Then on your PC, (just to try) start a new playthrough (lifepath or character doesn't matter, so just fly through the character creation^^), as soon as you are able to save, create a new save (don't overwrite an existing one) and let the game uploading this on CDPR servers (just wait until a cloud icon appear on it).
And finally, on your PS5, try to load it.
If it work fine, return on your PC, load the "old" save you wanted to load on your PS5 (the one your PS5 doesn't want to load), create a new save again (don't overwrite an existing one), wait until this save is uploaded on CDPR servers and try to load it on your PS5 (and cross your fingers it will work).

If it does, great, enjoy.
If it doesn't, it probably means there are mod data in this save file and you won't be able to play it on your PS5 (there is no way to remove mod data "buried" in the save files unfortunately).

Not sure if it's clear, but to resume :
-------
PC
- perform a clean install
- start a new game
- save as soon as possible and create a new save
- wait until this save is uploaded on CDPR server
-------
PS5
- Try to load the save you created just before
- If if work, you can delete this save and return on your PC
- If it doesn't, we will have to search why it doesn't work (but we are now sure it's not because of mods or remaining mod data).
-------
PC
- Load your old save (the one your PS5 didn't want to load)
- Create a brand new save (do not overwrite an existing one)
- Let the game uploading it on CDPR servers
-----
PS5
- Try to load the save you created just before.
- If it work, great!
- If it doesn't work, it means your save file might likely contains mod data.

Thankful for your LONG reply.

I started a new game on my PC, and it worked. I can load the save in PS5. BUT when I load my old save, it turns out that it did not work :ROFLMAO:

This is quite tricky... Is it related to a progress issue? I think when I was playing Blood and Wine, my PS5 could still read the cross-platform save. somehow, after that, it could not read anymore...

actually my story is already finished Heart of Stone. I played blood and wine first, and then heart of stone. I think I found this issue during the story of heart of stone...

No, it's most likely due to mod data in the save files. Once mods are active (even one), when you save your game, data from mods are generally added in the save files and stay in "forever". Data which cause issue(s) on consoles (PS/Xbox), most often crashes. Because in theory, these data shouldn't be there and aren't recongnize by the game.

Unfortunately, there is no way the remove these data :(

Okay, have to stick on PC then...

Anyway, thanks a lot for your patient reply!

I saw a notice that there will be a cross-platform mod patch by the late of the year. Could it be hopeful to solve my issue?
Yes, an update is planned later this year, which will made compatible PC mods on console (at least, some of them).
So it's possible you will be able to load your save, but no guarantee. I guess you will have to try and cross your fingers :)

Ok, nice!
A bit of luck I think. But it doesn't mean you won't got an issue while playing, who know. You will have to play to be sure :)
