Punishing for playing the Game wrong.

I agree with the OP.

Sorry guys, but no matter WHEN you make the quest, if quests are the only thing giving you BIG XP it means they are the sole reason you level up, meaning if you do quests in the wrong order it can be that you are up to 10 levels lower at the end of the game which IMO is not fair.

I think it is okay, even great, that XP are reduced if the quest is lower than your level (but not 1 level lower, 2 or 3 levels lower), but I think there should be no point at all where you get NO XP AT ALL from a quest. Reduced XP, yes. No XP at all, please no, fix it.

Smart i think....you still get money yes?
They did the smart thing...if you got xp for everything you would be SOOO overleveled that the main questline would be dull....I still think you get way tooo much xp as it is....but then i play on normal....next play-through will be on hard i hear that you get less xp overall and thats good

Ok, let's see if I can make any sense out of whta's going on.

Xp is earned up to a maximum level. You fight bigger stuff, you get more xp (relative to you). You fight smaller, you get less.

There is a point when you are basically going for things that you could kill by sneezing on them and you want to get xp for that? Gimmie a break!

As for this whole "people can be higher than I am"... wrong.

Xp will be greater, the higher the mob in comparison to you. If the mob is 1000xp points above your char and your reward is 100xp then a similar player who is only 500xp lower than the same mob, will only get 50xp.

Think about it. There is a max level. There is no differenc ewhere XP tops out. Stop throwing your toys out of the pram for five seconds and 'think' about it.

It's fine as it is. Don't overlevel and you won't have any problems.
And how do I do that. I'm overleveled even though I'm not doing very many side quests. Broken Bones.

What I find weird is not the amount of XP. The weird thing is giving many points to main quests and so little to optional stuff (partly because you overlevel form the main quests). It seems like a gimmick to balance the game accross players who wanna rush it and players who wanna do the optional stuff.

The game is encouraging players to skip many quests. And it doesn't really solve the overleveling problem. Maybe the main quests should give a little less and the optional ones a little more.

Only at the beginning I felt like optional quests worked as a way to prepare for a main quest. It was slow as hell, but kinda worth it, because that first griffin fight felt threatening. After that doing optional stuff simply feels like gimping yourself.
_______

For those of you playing on Death March... are you overleveling? And how much optional stuff are you doing?
