Quest Breaking Bug - Einar Gausel Disappears

I am on my first playthrough of the Witcher. And I found that during the quest "Poker Face", the fourth opponent, Einar Gausel, is not in his house. I thought maybe he went for a walk or something, so I meditated for days, and he's still missing.

Furthermore, I looked into my journal, under character description, there is no picture of him next to his description. Up to this point, everyone I've met has a picture, even those who has died. And I've definitely met Einar, got my hair cut twice!

This is all before the Letho's quest where all the non-humans leave Flotsam, so Einar is definitely SUPPOSED to be here. Only he is not.

I rolled back a couple of saves, even before the poker face quest, and still, no Einar. Other players have reported that Einar simply de-spawns or just disappears on them.

Also, I have to note that I think Einar only disappears after the enhanced edition came out. So it may be a bug with that version.

Man, that sounds pretty bad. Guess I'll have to keep an eye out for Einar, eh.

On a side note: I wonder why we still can't get rid of problems even in this finalized EE of the game...

Blah, I've already sunk 12 hours into this playthrough. Went with hard mode.

I am seriously considering how much I really want that hunter armor you can get after the poker face quest.

Have you guys ran into any issues with your saves from non EE edition to EE edition? I hear that someone who got to act 3 in the standard edition encountered a bug that can only be fixed by starting over. Yikes!

I think it would be wise/prudent to start a new game with the EE version. There are enough changes implemented that may affect game saves.

OK, I think I found out why he is disappearing, I think. There are two guys, Gaspar and Farid, outside next to the smithy's shop, that offers you a mutagen for some weird experiment. If you agree to it, they walk into Einar's house. I found that after this happens, Einar disappears. I'm not sure if this happens to everyone else. But I have two save files, one with Einar in it and one without. And the only thing I did between those two saves is accept that mutagen from those two douchebags.

I guess I could restart the game from there but I've already sunk like 12 hours into floatsam. And did all the sidequests in that town. Ahhh this is frustrating.

Even if it's somehow related, this should not happen. Einar should be there, no matter whom you speak to.

Yes, I agree. Hopefully they fix this soon. I mean, its not a game breaking bug. But the hunter armor is the best armor in act 1 and I cant get it unless I complete this quest.

Since I updated to EE, the same bug happened to me. Einar Gausel is missing.
I can't complete the quest Poker Face Flotsam.
