Question about Insane Mode (potential spoilers)

Question about Insane Mode (potential spoilers)

Hi guys,

So I decided to give the Insane Mode a try after going through the game on Normal, Hard, and Dark. After dying 5 times during Prologue (damn you, dragon) and once in Flotsam (got careless with some nekkers) it seems I'm well on my way. Just got to chapter 2, got some good gear and all is going pretty well.

I'm concerned about the part in chapter 2 where you play as the ghosts without potions, dodge, and Geralt's abilities. So my thought was, load up a Dark save of the game in that area, play through it a couple of times on Dark just to remember how it all goes down since it's been a while since I played that part. Then load up my Insane run and continue on.

However, as I was randomly reading a thread in a different forum, someone mentioned that if you load up a non-Insane save and die, it'll invalidate your Insane save. Does anyone have confirmation on whether that's the case or not? I'm a bit too afraid to try so now I'll probably just proceed with the Insane run without a practice try but wanted to check here first.

Thanks for any help!

Not true. You can even lower the difficulty of your game to hard in that playthrough and die and it won't cost you your insane saves.

Beautiful, thank you, Costin! I was kind of hoping you might see the thread since I know you've got more experience with the Insane mode than anyone. Love the videos!

Lowering the difficulty seems rather cheap, same for people that use registry editors to un-delete Insane saves. Really doesn't make much sense to me why people do that since you get nothing for passing Insane besides pride in yourself.

On an unrelated note, do you still play Arena on Dark past Quen-nerf? If so, how far have you been able to get and what kind of build would you advice for EE Arena play? Thanks!

For Arena I'd use the same build I have for my Insane Runs. It does work.

I've managed to do relatively well in Arena, came close to beating the score I currently have but can't say I have patience for it.
