Question about quests structure.

At first i can't wait to play this beautiful game. Big thanks to CDProject for this amazing game.

Now, i have a question in my mind for a long time. It begin when i read the preview of witcher 3 e3 2013. There was a quest about a monster killed people of 1 village and villagers asked Geralt to kill this monster. And when Geralt killed that monster there was a cutscene about after some time murderers attaked to village and destroyed it. So after that we understand that that monster protected the village from murderers for long time.

Now my question is if we did not kill that monster would the village be destroyed by this monster after while or everyone would live happy. It's interesting that if there still some scripted things which must happen and you only chose which way it will happen or all things depends on your gamplay style.

For example in this situation is the village scripted to be destroyed and you chose by who it will be destroyed.

Choices in TW3 won't be easy, no, they won't...

I think it will be more like if you do not kill the monster the village will not be destroyed, BUT.....

And then there are some disadvantages here too.
You know, maybe the monster, depending on what kind of monster it is, has a taste for the villages women?
Or it likes to eat kids?
Or it steals the food by killing the wildlife (will the people starve?)
etc.

Always consequences, no matter in which direction you go and what you decide.

Then again, some of the latter consequences might open up new Contracts for a Witcher later on.....

As King of the Wild Hunt says, every decision you make will bring devastation. Each choice will lead to a greater evil.
Seriously though, CDP doesn't want you to know the consequences of your action in a straight forward way. They don't want you to just reload and pick the better option. So, I expect there to be no better option in most quests and also the consequences of actions to play out in unpredictable ways.

I don't recall knowing this quest? Any information?
I think it was mentioned in the previews that came out during E3. It could be the same one as the one at the end of Johnny, three ladies quest line shown where you kill the thing inside the cave that claims it is protecting the children. I'm not sure though.

Think of Witcher 2 style quests..but now with more branching paths and more possibilities. That Precious Cargo quest that was posted in the forums a few days ago gives you at least 3-4 ways that a quest can end.

The situation of some quests advances using main quests or events (possibly timed) as World States Gates, after which the situation will be resolved in one way or another based on your actions, inactions, or just partial actions.

Other quests can remain unsolved with the situation in a sort of pause until you finish them yourself, however I'd be wary of the extent of this because if there is any huge world changing consequences that affect a particular location, I'd say everything will be lost there.
