Questions about the whole world. (Book Spoilers)

So I didnt really know where to post this thread. I have some questions. How does Geralt die? There is some war or what? And at the begining of The Witcher he is runing to Kaer Morhen. Is this his past life before he dies or is it after he is dead. Also who is Yennefer? Who is Ciri? What happened to thema and are they important? If Geralt loves Yennefer is Triss trying to manipulate him by saying he loved a sorceress and making him think that she talks about herself and not Yennefer? Who is Triss before the game?

From the books he is pierced and killed by a pitchfork in Rivia. How he came back to life will be revealed in TW 2. The beginning of the first game is after he was dead. There's no information if they will be in TW 2. Yennefer was Geralts love of his life, Ciri his child of destiny. (Which he trained and took care of) According to the books Yennefer is supposed to be dead. Triss is not trying to manipulate (as far as we know), she had feelings for Geralt in the past and now have the oppertunity to get Geralt since Yennefer is supposed to be dead. Triss was still present and a friend of the witchers in the books when Yennefer was alive.

Thanks! That answered a lot of my questions. I want to ask is Ciri alive? And where is she? Does she play some role? What is a clild of destiny. Also who killed Geralt in Rivia? Dandelion and Triss were present right?Did Geralt love Triss in the past but preffered Yennefer? Or he had no feelings for her at all?edit: Also in what order should I read the books?

We don't know if she is, but since there is no mentioning that she died in the books it would be logical she is alive, whenever or not we get to see her in TW 2 is still unknown. No location of her whereabouts have been told. We can't say what sort of role she will have in TW 2 or if she will be present. Most witchers believe in destiny, (Geralt don't however) a child of destiny is how witchers prefer to name children they get as a reward for their services or obtained as a witcher apprentice in another more "destiny like" way.An angry mob of pesants. If I remember correctly Triss wasn't present, Yennefer and Ciri was though. No, he cared for her, but his one and true love was Yennefer.

Why were they angry? And how come pesants killed a witcher?

Humans slaughtering nonhumans. Geralt went to help the nonhumans and got killed.Bad luck, anyone can die if it is the right/wrong circumstances and if there is enough enemies even the best can fall.

Ciri seems to be alive but elsewhere. In The Lady of the Lake (not available in English, but there's a Spanish translation at scribd), Ciri stepped out of time and space through a portal created by Nimue. She shows up in a different legend, which I will not recount for fear of too many spoilers, and recounts her story there.

I'm tempted to also show-off my knowledge of the Witcher lore, but since Vasito seems to be able to operate an internet browser and also shows an apparently decent grasp of English - I'll just refer you to http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Witcher_WikiYou should be familiar with a "Search" function, I believe. Ironically, I suspect the books might have been translated on your language so I'd just recommend you go and do some paper-based reading instead of getting the short and/or incorrect info. The books are well worth it in my opinion.@ Johan S - Triss WAS in fact quite present at the Rivian riot and, if memory serves, she's the one that conjures a hail spell (so powerful that other sorceres failed to duplicate it later) that breaks up the riot and saves Yennefer. As a general speculation: Ciri takes Geralt and Yenefer's bodies to an unknown world/dimension where the are lastly shown as alive and sharing their love. Depending on your inclination it can easily be interpreted as either that they were somehow revived or that their love was so strong that they share the same afterlife, retaining their personalities and feelings - at which point we can only speculate if this "death" is any different than a "real" life. In this second case it makes sense that if Geralt has been resurrected then there's no reason for Yeneffer not to share the same fate - given that the point of their last scene is that their love transcends dimensions and even death (imho)

lol.... I read many things in the wiki. For Ciri and Geralt before he died. Where else would I know about these characters. Also saving all my money for TW2, Duke Nukem Forever, Warhammer 40k Space Marine, Dawn of fantasy and Battlefield 3:D I do plan to buy them at some point... the books. Thats why I asked in which order but non replied. I just dont get why Ciri is not with Geralt. Also did Geralt stop the ice age? He basicly just killed the grand master.... but what about that apocalypse?

Well, sometimes it's whether the books are available to you in a language you can read, more than whether there is a canonical order to read them in.As for what happened to Ciri, if you can read Spanish, you can read La Dama del Lago for free (at scribd), in which her story is told at some length. For the short version, just listen to the innkeeper's tale in Act 4.

I wanna learn more about Triss. I heard in some other thread that she betrayed her best friend or something in Thanned. Isn't Yennefer dead didn't she try to revive Geralt and ended up dying because of it?

And how would Geralt stop the ice age? Truth be told, by killing the Grand Master he killed the hope of humanity's survival in one form or another. However we can't be sure whether the ice age will come as fast as the Grand Master feared.

Hmm, I remeber just something from TW 1 that when she and Geralt talked about it, she mentioned that she arrived later.

As with so much in the Witcher stories, there's a surprising lot of cleverly disguised parallels to real-world history. Since the real-world equivalent of Ithlinne's prophecy actually came to pass (though not on the scale of the Grand master's dreams), I have little doubt that the foreseen ice age would come, were the stories extended far enough. The late 13th C. was the end of the "Medieval Warm Period", and the time of the Witcher stories marked the end of reliable growing seasons in Northern Europe for many years. Sustained foul weather in the early 14th C. caused local and general famines, including the Great Famine of 1315-1317, which paralyzed society from the British Isles to the Baltic states. Child abandonment and even infanticide and cannibalism (Hänsel und Gretel was not just fantasy, and Abigail's jest about maybe eating Alvin reflects a too-well-known theme) were widely reported.Later, in the "Little Ice Age", advancing ice forced the abandonment of the Greenland settlements and decimated the population of Iceland, the Baltic and the Thames froze over, heavy snow was recorded as far south as Portugal and northern Africa, and famines killed up to one-third of the population from France to Finland. So, yeah. Really happened. And in the time of Abigail's great-grandchildren.
