Quick Question

Hi,

So I'm new here and starting to get a hang of how things work in this forum but what really makes me wonder is what is that reputation thing that shows in my profile? Is it something that counts on how active you are here or?

as far as my knowledge goes, think of the "+" as a "like" button and the "-" as a dislike button. works the same way like it does on you tube, FB etc!

Yeah, users can 'like' or 'dislike' posts. I think you can give around 10 'likes' a day and only one 'dislike' (mods can correct me on this, though).

Oh, so that's how it works. Strange system IMO. Thx for the answer.

It's known as Karma system on most forums that use it, I think. I like it better than GoG's one-rep-per-day system, to be honest.

It just means people who post useful things have their reputation increase by means of other people giving them thumbs-up. In practice it doesn't mean anything, but it adds to the social networking part of the forum.

Just be yourself and have fun.

The best part is that you can give your own posts a rating. : )

That's no good, you have to let people do the loving for you. :)

I was merely pointing it out for the hilarity of the fact. It's most likely an oversight in the scripting. ; )

Not to burst your bubble guys, but it's not 10. You can't give that many + in one day. As well as negs, you can give 2 a day I think.

EDIT: Oops, I just checked in this thread, you can give 10 max indeed :) Sorry for the confusion, but hey, at least I made up for it with all the +1s :)

Well, my post was a little more funny before everyone had +1 on their posts :p

Oh gregski, the things you do for science!

Thought i could enlighten you on the new vs old rep system . It seems you`ve figured out the new system so instead how about a history on the old system .

Users could give out 1 oren every two weeks to whoever they wished
moderators could give out 5 orens per week but only one per user for a total of 5 users per week . No moderator could give another moderator orens .
lead (head) moderator could give out unlimited number of orens

But until a user had 54 posts no orens could be given out . No orens could ever be taken away .

So i think the new system works better .

Personally i think CDPR took everybody`s orens so they could fund Witcher 3 .

But still, you can NEG only 2 times a day, which is a good way to keep those itchy fingers at bay :p

Anyway, I find this whole virtual ego boosting system lacking, as your Orens don't show up anywhere but your profile. So, no bragging with crazy numbers under your avatar :)
