Random crashes (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION)

Hello guys,

I have finally found a solution. My game was randomly crashing during gameplay. Every time the crash reason was the same (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at random address in memory).
I will start with my HW configuration:
CPU: i5-4690k (stock clock)
GPU: GTX 970 (stock clock)
RAM: 16GB (Intel XMP profile! - source of problem for me, but this guide can help even if You do not have XMP profile!)

I tried all the typical solutions:
- Reinstall GPU drivers with DDU
- Down-clock my video card
- MemTest 86+ to check my RAM
- etc.

Solution EPIC intro:
After all this time, after so many tries, i fixed it (hopefully). I realized that i have added another 2 RAM sticks into my PC, so now i have 4. But my Motherboard supports only dual-channel, not quad-channel, which means that i increased stress on memory controller. And i also activated XMP profile for both channels. But then i found out that this XMP profile is recommended for quad-channel configurations and furthermore - it is for older generation of intel CPU's! But in general - if You happen to have 4 RAM sticks in dual-channel motherboard, the RAM clock and timings can be a problem and You may have to lower them a bit if some game(s) CTD with memory access violation error.

Solu - wait for it - tion:
1) Go into BIOS. Now find where You enabled the XMP profile. For the people who found it, go to step 1a, then 2, .... For those who did not find it, go to step 1b and then 2, ...
1a) Just turn the XMP profile off :)
1b) Try to switch for another, slower memory profile. If this is not possible in Your case, ease Your RAM timings a bit (e.g. change 7-8-8-24 to 9-11-11-29 or something like that) Just google how to do this properly in case of need
2) Now You can press F10 to save Your changes and restart the PC
3) Profit!

Epic outro:
I hope Your problem is now solved. If not, at least You tried yet another thing:)
Sorry for my english and for confusing guide. I had so little time to write this.

Cheers

Can i please ask admin to change this thread's title from "Random crashes (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION)" to "Random crashes (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION) - possible solution" ? :D
