Reading Some of the Reviews Made my Heart Break

+
Am I missing something?

These are Glassdoor reviews.

Glassdoor is not, in any way, proof of anything. There is no employee verification system. Anyone can write anything. They don't verify the employment status. Most reviews are either 1s or 5s, which let's be honest, is usually bullshit either way. There is also nothing stopping the same person from leaving more than one review.

For all you know, the same person could've written the three reviews that are in this very thread.

Glassdoor can give you an idea of a company but it's in no way reliable, especially not about a company embroiled in a huge controversy.

Employers can dispute a review, at which point it goes through a manual verification process with Glassdoor, they will contact the person who posted the review and will ask for proof in the form of employee badges, payslips, contracts etc.

It does require someone to start a dispute process, they also do some additional checks and cross reference your email address and social network profile.

It doesn't mean that every review is truthful and that every review is from a real employee but overall Glassdoor has improved their process considerably over the past years and now actually handles disputes with human arbitration and verification.

I think it's because of Iwinski's statement, which has some contradictions. On one hand he says that their internal testing didn't show the issues on the past gen consoles (which is really hard to believe, considering they didn't present those versions for reviews). People interpreted it that testing was of poor quality. At the same time, he asked not to blame the devs for the awful state of the game on launch.

Another question is how valid that glassdoor review is.

If only things would work like that in the real world.

Legitimacy of the reviews aside, if the response to this kind of criticism is "git gud or leave" it only shows a complete lack of understanding of how the industry works.

Devs need to realize not all of them are going to be talented enough for an ambitious project with a new engine, and it shows with this game. Just because you know how to flip burgers doesn't mean you should work as a cook at a five star restaurant, just because you know how to play soccer doesn't mean you should be a player in the major leagues, et cetera...
It doesn't matter if you're a five-star cook or a pro in CL. Most people can't work 60-70h a week and still be excellent in that what they are doing. If there are few that don't give a shi*t about their social live or health, so let them. But they shouldn't be the bar for everyone.
And if game-development can't get this right, they will get or already have problems recruiting people who could work under better conditions. Programmers f.e. You can't hold people forever just because your product is "hip". At some point the say: "F* that sh*t!"

I'd add to that.

By now managers should be well aware that the typical 8 hours workday has been recognized as somewhat counter productive. The average person being really productive for only between 3 and 5 hours a day, so between 15 and 25 hours a week. Anything past that and people get progressively less productive and the quality of work varies greatly.

Crunch is a poor substitute for good management. It's a sad fact of the gaming industry.

Well the root of the problems CDPR has seems to be pretty clear now: Not enough toilet paper. But how is that dead body connected?
