Reading the witcher books before playing Wild Hunt.

I am now reading the Swallows Tower.(book 5) The story getting better and better.

So is there anyway those of us who haven't read the books to get the Cliff Notes version of them?

I've actually just started a thread with a great video Wozz Games made, which explains major plot points from the books and games leading to Wild Hunt, while not spoiling the great reveals from the books and only what's Letho about from Assassins of Kings. But one then gets that The Witcher 3 as a game should stand on its own and not rely on Books to fill in Plot Gaps the game has. Many feel that (no me, obviously, I've read some of the books) the game doesn't give enough information about the newly introduced characters and they feel alienated/estranged/confused.

You guys can guess why that is.

W1 & W2 did that, these were stand alone games in case of story. W3 is so much better in this case. It would be very hard to fill all the story gaps for those who never read books. Well, i think it's much better to make book fans happy as CDPR did, rather than annoy us with all the introductions and flashbacks for those who doesn't care about witcher story that much and never read the original story.
