REDkit Tutorials

Since the very beginning of REDkit Open Beta, we have been hard at work to bring you more insight on how to improve your REDkit experience and make your work with the editor easier. Today, we would like to present you with a few of the REDkit tutorials, prepared by some of the most prominent participants of the Closed Beta, Benzenzimmern and Klabautermann. Both gentlemen are very experienced in certain areas of our editor and it’s just fantastic that they’ve decided to share their knowledge with the rest of the modding community.

Here are tutorials from Benzenzimmern, which focus on story creation:

Part 1
- Spawning- Communities- Partitions- Actionpoints

Part 2
- Creating a dialogue file- Voicetags- Writing dialogue- Choices- Adding it to your quest

Here are tutorials from Klabautermann, where he explains basics of creating the world:

Part 1
- Creating terrain- Adding a skybox and a sun- Adding an ‘Area Environment’ to get basic lighting

Part 2
- Open/load worlds- Terrain editing / terrain tools

Part 3
- Placing objects- Generating walkmesh

Part 4
- Vegetation- Gardener tool- Paint vegetation- Foliage distribution tool

Once again, tremendous help guys! Amazing effort on your part and it definitely deserves recognition!

P.S. Since everybody is posting tutorials, I’ve decided to release something as well. Here, you’ll find a REDkit Editor Basic Manual which, together with those tutorials, will help you with your REDkit work. Enjoy!

Thanks BANAN, the small manual is mostly content that you published on Wiki right?

Nice writeup, it's always good to have something that summarizes the "fragmented" pieces of info on the Wiki. :)

Will be REDKit in Czech? I'm not very goot at English so I would be really glad if there is this opportunity... :)

A very nice text on pcgamer.com, altough I think that it would have been a better idea if they posted one of Klabautermanns tutorials that show the basics instead of mine.

I was trying to download the tutorials but the firefox addon I use, Downloadhelper, doesn't pull the youtube translations with the video. Anyone know of another firefox addon that will pull the captions with the video?

Also, thanks for making the videos!
