Regarding the decision to scale back the nudity, if the game was left in that condition then no one would be able to stream it on any of the streaming platforms without facing sanctions. It would be hard to make a game in 2020 that is not compatible with content creators that want to make youtube content, pro gamers that want to stream, etc.

Regarding the ethics of refunding a video game.... in my entire life I have sought refunds twice. Both times I sought refunds were on the basis of the game failing to work as advertised in a material aspect.

What I mean by that is you don't refund a game because an NPC was floating in the air, visual glitches, etc. You only refund when the game fails to work as a reasonable person would agree it to be either "unusable" or the experience being so bad that it is simply not enjoyable.

I have a hard time thinking of scenarios where one was able to play the game to completion, yet the game did not work in a material way.

In my view, people who refund a game they were able to complete are the ones that should be blamed for the cases of others that do have an unusable game but cannot get a refund because the studio has been forced to create criteria that is almost impossible to get a refund when it is truly warranted.

I have even seen news articles talking about people who want to refund the game, but keep it. WTF?

Yes I've requested a refund (day 5 now because I waited and gave them a chance with patch 1.5). I've received 3 or 4 automated responses from CDPR. None of them stated that beating the game invalidates my refund request. Last one I received (today) assured me that all requests made within the 30 day limit will be honored regardless when they actually get to my ticket.

I think you're making an assumption that when they say abuse, they mean beating the game. No where does it state that beating the game invalidates your refund request. Until I see that exact statement from CDRP I'm going to rightfully assume this is something you want to be true, but isn't reality and simply exists in your head.

You are making an assumption beating the game does not invalidate a refund request or time played, are you not?

The email states - potential abuse, can refuse refund, and it is a voluntary policy - it does not go into specifics.

I am making no assumptions. I do not claim to know what the vague term "abuse" means unlike you. I am only going on what I can prove. CDPR stated that playing the game does not invalidate your refund. They say nothing about beating the game.

YOU'RE the one making unsubstantiated claims that beating the game invalidates your request without any evidence.

From your post, and subsequent posts, I don't get the feeling you have any interest in discussing things. You just want to be right.

If I wanted to bang my head against a wall, I'd just... y'know, bang my head against a wall

Furthermore, I've been warned a number of times about taking things off thread. I'd rather avoid the ban hammer. So I'll just agree to disagree, bid you a good day and I'll go have a good one of my own.

Cheers!

You are the one who has made a refund request having completed the game with X amount of hours and are literally making an assumption CDPR will not refuse due to their refund policy.

Do you eat the pizza and still expect a refund?

Ummm... Where did I state I beat the game? I literally can't beat the game because the quests bug out so bad I quit in frustration. Please quote me where I stated I beat the game. What are you on and where can I get some?

If that pizza makes me sick after eating it you bet your butt I'm going back to that business and making noise.

You are free to make any assumption you wish with regard to the discussion, I am free to disagree with your points. I could also state "I feel I am banging my head against a wall" but you are not required nor obligated to agree to any of my points.

Thank you for the conversation.

Were you not the one who mentioned beating the game still entitles someone to refund? Were you not referencing yourself?

Odd how you use the terms assume, assumption whilst assuming I use drugs, I do not.

Making noise? but will they listen, will they refund, you after all have to prove it was the pizza that made you ill.

Was your reply a misquote? I could not add an on/off button for nudity I do not work for CDPR.

No. That was another one of your assumptions/delusions. I simply stated that the refund policy doesn't mention beating the game. You ASSUMED I was referencing myself for absolutely no reason. Look in the mirror my friend. You're making a clown of yourself.

So let me summarize the majority of the negative and the majority of posts in this thread really quick, for everyone:

"Refunds are deserved because some nudity glitches were patched and some nudity was removed (not in my Steam install, btw)"
"Refunds are deserved because THE GAME IS SO BAD"
"Refunds are deserved because THEY PROMISED THINGS (what, specifically?)"
"Refunds are deserved because these 7 year old machines made with the low end of 8 year old hardware struggle to play a new game"

I beat the game fully, 100%, from a day 1 install play. I had rare bugs, nothing broke my game, and I enjoyed the time I spent.
Am I some sort of 1 in 1 million super lucky person? Am I mentally deficient and can't notice the real game? Or do the complainers have something else going on?
You be the judge.

I'd answer that question but the mods would censor the post. How you came to that conculsion is beyond me unless you're being willfully ignorant or... well.. You said it, not me.

My mate bought the game finished it and asked for a refund. I told him that is wrong because surely to have a refund you shouldn't be enjoying the game all the way though and disclosed an issue early on which stopped you playing the game. I think it is a bit unfair really those asking for refunds should have to prove at least they were badly affected by the bugs or unable to play the game what do you think?

I really hope CDPR can continue to make games as wonder how bad they effected by this
People who do this have no problem lying about the reasons for the refund.

Plus, who is going to pay the people needed to curate all the refund requests?

Good thing those who are against refund arent running companies, because no one would come to them.
CDPR had a great reputation, they did not made with anti consumer thing like "No CeNsOrShIp Is NoT a VaLiD rEaSoN tO ReEeEeeeFuNd !11"

Let me again summarize everyone's problem:

"My imagination expected something as complex as real life, and reality gave me a video game"
That's not a valid refund for many players. You were promised a game, you bought a game, you received a game. You played the game.
Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
Maybe next time don't convince yourself that your imagination can be so real.

So you are saying you are ok with everything as long as it is a game ?
That make no sense at all.
