Regarding Random Crashes with NVidia GPUs

I wanna know if the devs are working to solve this because I don't wanna do the 100 step work-around to temporarily fix this. (also since I play GTA V alot I don't want to roll back the driver to a version before the GTA V driver). There could be problems with the new Nvidia driver but since many users are reporting different kinds of crashing, it's obvious that there's a problem with the code. I think it might be a few memory leaks contained in the executable (which is strangely big at 40 something MB) that's causing the problem, which was also an issue with the previous title.Anyway, I just wanna know if they're planning on fixing this soon because I want to effing play >_

my rig:Intel i7 3820 @ 3.7ghz32gb DDR3 RAM @ 1600 mhzNvidia GTX 680 4gb GDDR5The game runs smoothly at 40+ FPS on ultra settings at 1080p. Just the annoying random CTD every 5-50 min.

Same here. Tried all the workarounds and I am still crashing every 5-20 minutes. Still waiting on some kind of word that they're aware of the problem and are addressing it. But maybe everyone is on vacation already.

It is not just nvidia. Also amd.

For Nvidia users. Go into the Control Panel and set Preferred Single GPU and put it to Maximum performance. Did not have a single crash in nearly 2 hours of play.

I'm sorry to hear that :( Actually I always put that option on no matter witch game I play. I also put pre-rendered frames to 1. And lastly, I change the Witcher3.exe process to high in task manager once I start the game. I know it had beneficial results in GTAV so maybe that could help too.Good luck!!

well, considering users in other games are also having 970/980 problems, as well as some other random models from nvidia... i'd say... buy ati... ps4/xbox/wii all have... it's also why ati gets more dev time... cuz its on all the consoles ;o

and if your shit don't run on ati/console, then you might as well declare bankruptcy ;o

and when people talk about 'console parity', they really mean ati parity, cuz technically, it has parity with all the consoles and PC... lulz?

sorry, im always this parity pooper.

Well issue is happening for people including my partner on amd/ati systems. So not just nvidia unfortunately.

that really needs more context... maybe on a 6000 series or 5000 series ati, which are below min spec. i don't see many issue with cards other than those. theyre like 5-6 years old.

Partners r9 280x is crashing. Not quite as often as my gtx 680 but still reasonably often at random times.

well technically, consoles use 7000 series, something about the 7850/7870 generation, so probably already GCN 1.0 architecture, i haven't really bothered to check.

(xbone 7790, ps4 7870 actually, still GCN 1.0)

r9 series is a bit newer GCN 1.2 revision, so that could explain some of it. it basically has higher parity with consoles than nvidia cards.

i use 7870 actually, so same as ps4, same core architecture as both. i don't expect any issues beside low frame rate ;o (min spec, although i can get 30-50 fps, 40 avg on high settings, with a few useless things turned medium/off).

I was having crashes every 10 - 20 mins but it was actually my Nvidia driver crashing that caused game crash too so I solved it by removing the driver completely using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and then did a fresh install again (without Geforce Experience) and now it doesn't crash 2 hours straight.

The game seems to hate overclocked gpus. I'm 99.9% sure my OC is stable. but the game's having none of it. I've to set it to default clocks if I don't want the game crashing the driver every 10 minutes. Which is quite unfortunate, because I was banking on my overclock bumping my 970 to 980 performance for this. Every frame counts at 1440p.

Seems to be a thing with hairworks for me, drives me nuts since I have a GPU that can run it. If its the same crashing problem I am having just turn hairworks off till they fix it.
