@ Volsung

Its not only about Graphics. I can enjoy older RPGs like Fallout 1&2, Baldurs Gate( Enhanced Version incoming btw ), Planescape: Torment or even older ones till today. The RED Engine is a very good Engine to transport a living RPG. So it would be no Replacement only another Perspective. Im sure the Combat System or Talent System could be remastered or transported to the RED Engine. Besides: The Combat System of TW1 is good but not the one and only Way to play! Im sure it would create a very good Atmosphere for TW1, not better than the Original just different...worth trying imo.

I'd much prefer the other way around. TW1 has much better game-play.

Meh to each his own but people seem to forget the RED Engine can easily handle the originals combat system.

I hate the whole 'preserve the original vision' type argument. How can a remake or redo take anything away from the original?

The original is always going to be the original. The argument is therefore invalid to me.

Now, arguing the EE edition changed the original is a whole other can of beans. That argument has a lot of merit

This is a century old paradox. Please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus

For me the most important thing is the experience. I would indeed welcome the TW1 remake. However, my memory and experience of TW1 has already been made, and I personally enjoy it that way. The remake probably won't be taking anything from the original, it's just a new experience. A remake experience would be cool however given labour, technical, money and time constraint the developer has to face, I'd rather they make a new game, be it Witcher 3 or whatever fancy them.

No man power and time to waste on TW1 remake. that game just came out few years ago. they are working on few projects at the same time right now. Same idea as FF7 remake they could do it but its way to early maybe on PS4 or next xbox.

One day maybe but most likely It wont happen anyway not now.

Age has nothing to do with it.

As interesting as it may be, I don't think it would be a worthwhile endeavor. Better to put those resources into TW3. Plus, I've seen remakes using newer engines go awry. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes was a remake of the PS1 Metal Gear Solid for the Gamecube using the engine made for Metal Gear Solid 2, and it didn't work out so well, in my opinion. The game was made almost exactly like the PS1 game but with the techniques available in the PS2 games, so it pretty much broke it from a challenge aspect.

Waste of money and time. better of make 2x AAA+ games for PS4 and x720 in 2-3 years time. I bought TW1 in total 3x just now on GOG I got it for 5$ + 2 retail version, normal copy when it first came out and then EE year later. I wouldn't buy it again thinking its the same story for full retail price.

halo combat evolved hd remake.... one of the worst things ever created. The only reason it got decent reviews was because it had the name halo other then that it was just bad. Also the countless of other hd remakes coming to consoles... the only hd remake actually good is the ico + shadow of the colossus hd remake. They took their time with it and made it good.

We cannot say how good a Remake would be...i think nobody wants to make a decision between the Remake and TW3! Of course we want both ;-)

Nah again maybe in 5 or so years when we get Witcher 4 (if ever) Still I rather see TW3 and that new IP RPG from CDPR then any HD classic. waste of time and money.

I would love it if it were well done.

That it would somehow combine the interactivity of TW2's combat, with the amount of options of TW1, while mantaining the atmosphere of TW1.

There is also a lot of problems of TW1 that could be fixed.

Honestly (and it's been said a few times here already) there would be no point remaking TW1 at this point in time. The game still holds up very well by todays standards. Actually guna play through it again, before starting my 3rd playthrough of TW2 in the coming weeks. Maybe in like 5+ years it would be awesome.

Can I ask what it was that was so bad about Halo CEA? I haven't got round to playing yet, but was planning on picking it up this summer sometime. From what I have seen the gameplay is exactly the same as the original, if so, I don't really see how it could be as bad as you say...

Although TW2 was a great game it still seems too short compared to TW1 and doesn't have the open world feeling to it. I guess I was hoping for more areas to investigate and explore. Also TW2 is lacking in the fantasy feel to the overall world.

It's limited because of crossplatform and the engine shows it.

Meh, I dunno. Basically, I hated the combat in TW1 to the point where I couldn't finish the game, so if they remade it with the same story but TW2's gameplay, sure, that would be awesome. But in reality, it's a choice between this and an expansion for TW2 and/or TW3 coming out in a reasonable amount of time, and honestly... I'd rather have new stuff.
