Does this count for the Steam version too? If so, how does one proof the purchase via Steam?

It counts for digital versions as well. Just follow the link, if you don't have the code, there's additional link where you can find necessary instructions on how to obtain the key:)

For some reason, people are very distrustful of this site etc......and although having problems installing PC game will not use the gog.com backup facility as they say its a 'randown' website...

I cant figure out why people dont trust this?

GOG is a great site. I have over 100 games sitting in my account over there. Also thats very cool you are allowing retail customers to use this service. I already have the GOG and retail versions Of TW2 so I am sorted. Must get around to downloading the Enhanced version soon :)

Go it the very second it was available on gog and in my opinion the gog version is superior to all others.

GOG is the best digital game shop. Period.

I simply cannot understand why any sane, healthy person would buy a game from any other place if it is available from GOG.

I agree, gog.com is a really god site, not random, its well done.

I downloaded my backup of the PC EE TW2 onto my laptop via gog.com and its contains a 2.8GB of extra digital content!! Plus the wolf's logo was replaced with the new game logo as a shortcut on my desktop.

I just remember people reluctantly and ignoring my posts to get their CD key registered on gog and download their copy off gog.com and was met with reluctance, etc....'random' website someone said, I dont wanna sign up to this website, another said etc etc...

and I was trying to help as they were having problems with the update for TW2!

its a great site, I wouldnt mind Diablo if it came to the site....the fallout stuff is tempting too:)

I sent a picture as I couldn't find my user guide with key.

Then I remembered the registry!! So I've sent an email and managed to register my key!

Wait, so there is a time limit. The backup copy will no longer be available to retail Witcher 2 owners after the 17th or is it for people needing to show proof because they don't have the code? I need to make sure. I just ordered the Premium Edition and it may come after the 17th. I need an admin to reply so I know if I should upgrade the shipping speed.

I read it as the timelimit being for people needing to show proof of purchase only.

That's exactly how I read it. Clarification would be nice.

Edit

I read it again and it said IF. NVM

If you bought retail you would have got the GOG.com version free I believe. That's what I'm doing anyway.

Only thing i would like to see in gog is option to download language packs for some games (not every game). For example gothic series have terrible english vo, it was so much better in polish.

Wait, some version of TW2 retail edition doesn't come with a code? Why is that? I just bought one and is curious. Which one does and which one doesn't? It is the new run have it and the older one does type of situation? I just ordered a copy and is getting really nervous.

Some retail Europe 2.0 versions don't have a code. If you ordered an EE you shouldn't be worried.

I love GOG because they try to keep all their games as DRM free as possible, if not no DRM at all. I even got a free copy of the first fallout game from there :p
