[Request]: High Refresh Rate (120hz) Mode for Consoles

+
Hi CDPR,

Is it possible to implement a mode that unlock frame rates for both graphics and performance modes for tvs that have high refresh rates? I have an OLED model that supports VRR between 20-120hz; moreover, an unlocked, high refresh rate mode for consoles such as PS5 and Series X|S would allow for use to take advantage of those tv features. Hopefully its not much work. We love the game and appreciate your efforts and continued support. Thanks a ton!

Oh, it would be awesome sure...
But I don't think it will ever happen, not because CDPR don't want to, just because it's not possible to run the game at higher frame rate than 60FPS (a frame rate the current gen consoles already struggle to maintain).

I don't really think that console would be able to show 120 fps even on the lowest setting with super resolution. As to PC, no fps below 60 feels really bad, especially when we are living in 2023.
Not asking for 120fps; but uncapped quality & performance (high refresh rate) mode in the 120hz container. Modern tvs such as my LG OLED can do it; then VRR will take over and do the rest of the work. This is similar to modes Hogwarts Legacy, Spiderman, and a few recently released titles.

The Series X|S consoles have a little head room left on the table if they enabled Hardware Variable Rate Shading for them; just as they did for PC in Patch 1.5.

I have never played on consoles, so I might understand that wrong. On PC you can simply enable G-Sync (VVR basically) and the GPU would synchronise itself with the monitor. The game is not envolved there at all. Do the consoles need the support of VVR for every single game instead of it being part of OS?

I am also not sure, what would uncapped mode do, if using VVR would automatically reduce your fps to the current of the game, which will again be 60 or less.

Yeah, not sure what VVR will add :(
I mean 60FPS is already the best performance mode and quality mode is the best graphic quality at minimum acceptable frame rate (i.e 30).
