Resolution Issue

Hello

Recently I have been unable to activate the Nvidia option to add black bars on the sides, top and bottom to keep the game image from stretching out of shape due to my having to play with a lower resolution than my monitor supports. I had been playing with these black bars since release day due to my computer not being able to run the game smoothly at 1920x1080.

All other games "obey" the Nvidia settings except W3, which used to but doesn't anymore. How can this be fixed? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

In nvidia settings, change ur monitor resolution, set no stretch. Then u will have to set ur monitor resolution back later. Just a work around.

You need to be running in Fullscreen mode. Check that the game has not automatically switched it back to the default "Borderless".

Make sure the resolution in the game is the one you want.

Be sure your Control Panel value is set to "Do not scale", not "Maintain aspect ratio". Also check that you didn't somehow toggle on your 4K settings by mistake. Check both global and game specific settings.

All those things check. Of all the games I have installed, only W3 ignores the Nvidia control panel settings, and it started doing that overnight without my changing anything either on the control panel or in the game itself.

The game has actually become unplayable for me, since it's too slow at native resolution, it looks hideous with image all stretched and is too slow in window mode too. It's a shame.

Alright...

Delete your user.settings file and allow the game to recreate one at launch. (You'll lose all of your option settings, so go into the menu and get everything set the way you want it again.) Then do not load a saved game. Exit the program and restart it again from Windows. That should reset all game settings.

If that still doesn't work, validate your installation through Steam. If that still doesn't work, delete your user.settings file as well as all the native config files from your installation directory and validate the installation again.

If even that doesn't work, clean your registry with CCleaner until it shows up as "No conflicts detected." Remove your display drivers with DriverSweeper and reinstall the Nvidia reference drivers using the CLEAN install option. Run CCleaner again until it's clear of all conflicts.

If, after all of that, it still fails to work, then I suggest you call a priest and submerge your computer in holy water until it turns black, because your PC has been possessed. Holy water is a workaround, btw. You will not be able to solve the problem completely unless you learn the demon's True Name.

Alright, I've tried all that and nothing. So, as you say, either my computer has been possessed, or the game has. Most likely the latter, since my computer is behaving normally when it comes to other games.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? This is so odd.
