Roach and people

maybe being a little nit picky here, but it bothers me that when you are riding roach through a group of people, or galloping through a town, people step out right in front of you and you bump them. First of all no one in their right mind would do that, and second, a horse would not run in to people like that. If we could get birds to fly away when you get close, we should also be able to have people move around Roach, run quickly in front of him before you pass or just wait until you pass before crossing the road.

on an unrelated note, i have had problems with Roach suddenly stopping while galloping.

studio size & budgeting bro, that is why you won't see npc animations for them getting out of roach's way. It also seems roach didn't have a high enough budget for sudden stopping animations. Assassins Creed Syndicate might scratch your itch though, apparently every npc will jump out of your way when you're riding a horse & carriage. Not that I recommend that game mind you, everyone's scared after the Unity fiasco. Just sayin is all, comes down to studio size, time frame & budgeting moolah for decent animations

Actually I did notice roach does have a sudden stopping animation, he slides quickly to a stop.. but it doesn't happen all the time. If you run into a tree out in a forest while fast galloping he will just stop without the sliding animation. It's annoying & most probably won't be fixed unless they make every single tree in the game trigger that slide-stopping animation for roach when he nears a tree while galloping. Highly unlikely, same goes for npc's.. they will continue to be oblivious to a fast travelling horse. CDPR will move onto cyberpunk & these sorts of things will be left for the modders to pick up the slack. Shame though, they've made such a beautiful game world with so much to see & do..but they forget to include believability & 100% immersion.

btw - nothing wrong with being nit picky, most of us are here for the same reason. We all hope CDPR are reading & taking on board what we have to say about their game

I think Geralt has a few motion problems too. Putting his sword away at the wrong time, going from walking to running way too quickly, going from running to stopping way too slowly. Maybe it's the wireless controller to me it always feels like some kind of input lag. In think a lot of the environments distances seem weird. A room looks visually big enough, but Geralt keeps getting caught in scenery or running out of maneuvering room. Too many things rely on the "X" button. But Roach is in a class of his own LoL!! But it's still a great effort to make a AAA game. Now that I'm no longer every monster and bandits Bitch, can't get enough and Roach is just a big lovable lummox!!

Thats wat I meant with Fixing Horse A.I in that thread for expected changes with the 1.07. patch

The A.I is horrible. Permantly does the horse stop its gallop, because of terrible collision control of "something" being in its way that lets the horse instantly stop running, whats super annoying.
NPC don't go out of the way, or stop moving, when they basically see you moving with fast tempo towards them.
When you are running on the pathes, NPCs should act accordingly to you to prevent that they run into your path and lead to collisions that make you stop moving.
The Horse has also a realyl weird/strange kind of way how it runs and tries to avoid collisions with trees, cause there are naturalyl so many trees in the game, that come fast towards you when you are galloping, that oftenly the A.I corresponds not correctly and lets you run automaticalyl into directions you don't want to ride to.

Also we shouldn't press a button just to jump with the horse. The horse a.I should let you automatically jump, whenever there is somethign in frrotn of you that would make you stop running and you can jump at that place with the horse, like jumping over gaps on destroyed bridges, or jumping over fences/gates if they aren't too high for the horse to be able to jump over them.

When whistling for the horse, the horse could also move more intenligently to you by using the rout, that is the shortest, instead of the one, which is the complicatest, when obstacles like hourses ect. are in the near and between you and the horse.

When using AXII on the horse, geralt should be also able to use the other witcher signs to have with IGNI/AARD a ranged attack options and quen for self defense agaisnt attacks, that would throw you off the horse to make horse battles a bit more interesting, or AARD on horse you make you temporarely lighter, so that you could ride faster instead, cause 2 ranged attacks are basically not needed, IGNI is enough for that ^^
With that in mind, AXII could then be more useful, than being only there to prevent the horse from throwing you off by removing its fear. It coudl be used then also to activate the other signs, cause an AXII'ed horse, that feels no fear anymore, has no problems, when you cast then the other more for the horse fearsome signs.

The game would make with these kinds of improvements and fixes directly alot more fun :D

Never liked Roach from the beginning of the game :D man I wonder how many times I did swear on that horse stupidity haha
Well, the only time I started liking him was when I acquired the last gear set from him and made him looks black~
What annoyed me most is the way to switch gear from slow to fast motion and vise-versa, especially while galloping and stops suddenly for no reason ( maybe hit an invisible tiny rock? :D ).
