Roach got no tail even after patch 1.22

Roach got no tail even after patch 1.22

So I'm on ps4, have latest 1.23, 1.22 was suppose to fix it even though I didn't get this problem till after latest patch, there any fix on ps4? I can handle no mane but no tail looks stupid

Same problem here. I think the tail stays gone if you lost it once. I guess it comes back when you start NG.

I "fixed" the issue first with buying that Skellige DLC saddle. It covers enough horse ass that it doesn't look that stupid. After I
rescued Dandelion
I made a quick visit to Toussaint
(easy to access even low levels because you can kill that first cyclop with one crossbow shot in the eye)
and bought a knight saddle from there. That saddle "includes" a tail, so now my Roach has tail again as long as that saddle is on. Knight saddle has good stats, so you don't even have to remove it.

Stupid thing is it said in patch notes it was fixed, I also noticed it corrupted earlier saves that didn't have the glitch, so when I got the glitch on my current save I loaded a save way Wat earlier when his tale was fine and hadn't gone to dlc and it's gone on all saves

The only thing that i can confirm is, that on a new game installation that glitch is fixed.

I play that way as we speak. So, yeah it' working...

BUT

Unfortunately, i was forced to delete everything related to the game (including saves) and start over!

Obviously not the best possible solution! :confusion:

Yeah absolutely not a solution, you know it's gonna happen again rite? I mean I hope you didn't start again thinking that because it's fine now it will be fine? There's obviously a trigger, I'd say starting one of the dlc as that's when I noticed it, but yeah screw starting a new game when ever it happens, I just put the undvik armor on too, still looks weird but better

Actually i hate the idea for starting over, if the next patch does the same thing!

This is my third attempt, and it gets boring after i while, doing the same things over and over again. lol

-----------

I can't figure out, why the tail is affected from patch 1.20 and beyond

Doesn't make sense to me, as patch 1.20 hasn't changed anything substantial that could be related to a Horse. <according to the log file>

except this one: Fixes issue whereby interaction with Roche was impossible in quest titled An Eye for an Eye.

can confirm here only, that 1.23 solved sadly nothing, despite some peopel saying it solved their problems, this fix absolutely doesn#t solve this bug for everybody..

1.23 changedn othing for me relatefd to the missing roahc tail .. ."luckily" I have this bug "only" in velen...and everywhere else i have a tail on my roach ...

Didnt have yet the chance to test out, if that bug is maybe solved through using different saddle ect. from the stuff you get in the expansions...
usign the undvik equipment (because it looks also the best so far)

Once i get horse equipemnt from the expansions i wil ltry out again, if I have stil lwith that no tail in Velen, then i know at least, that the bug would have to do somethign eventualyl with the vanilla game horse equipment ...

The bug have been fixed, just game saves that had no tail won't get it back. It is not a retroactive fix, just prevents it from happening.

Yes, but even if it works that way, that means you should start over!

Not a very fine solution...
This is why it is wise to keep backup saves from previous patch, so if you want to get the tail back and not have to start over, at least go back to where you were before the patch with the problem.

Actually, i was thinking that CDPR should fix that this time for good.

You can't have multiple previous saves relying on previous patches, for getting your game up and running!

That seems more like a Beta testing game-play. lol

And even if i had some previous saves relying on a previous patch,
most probably i would lose many hours of game-play.

At the end - the tail isn't a game breaking bug anyway, but i wish to take some nice pictures,
and a Horsie without a tail, well...

Yeah, fixes should always we retroactive..whats that please for a fix, that forces you to make a complete new game, just to get rid of something so small like this bug, when it could have been fixed also retroactively through adding of a little new quest that lets Roach die and lets Geralt get a new horse 8which will be named again Roahc as he names all his horses Roach, he said that by himself)

By killing Roach through a new quest, that could be the retroactive opportunity to make sure, that the corrupted Roach Game files get removed from the game and replaced with a new Roach Data File, that replaces the old one, that is optimized for the whole game including the expansiions, because these missing tail bugs started just when the expansions got added, because obviously the roach data file of the vanilla game has some kind of problems with the expansions I guess

In that little quest they could add then also the option to give the players the chance to decide which colors ect. the next Roach should have for those people which may eventually prefer rather to ride on a white or a black horse instead on a brown one.
that kind of new quest could be as simply a new horse race in which you get interrupted by a huge monster suddenly attacking you out of surprise and hitting roach in such a way, that he doesnt survive that attack so that you need to get a new horse and due to you having won for that dwarf in Novigrad whos part of the undergrounds which name I don't know in english (lol..Slasher/ Hacker eventually too? dunno) he could do you a favor by giftign you a new horse therefore that you have won for him a race in the past as he hears what happened to you in that race so he invites you to go meeet him at Vegelbuds, where he gifts you a new horse of choice where you have then several different horses with different looks to choose from which one you want to have as new roach to bring the last race to an end that you have started, before you got interrupted in midsts of the race.

Its a single quest, that could work as retroactive solution for everyone and i think, making a single quest isn't too much effort to ask for getting developed as part of a larger patch which we will get to see most liikely the time around when CDPR brigns out their GOTY edition of the game.

PS: I shouldn#t complain much ,cause personalyl im only affected with this on Velen, everywhere else is everythign fine, but it would be kind of dumb to be forced to make a new game, just to get somethign liek this fixed.
The only point that keeps me chilled about this fact is only, because I haven't made so far a NG+ game, so soonr or later I will make a new game through this anyways.. so my "fix" will come in basicalyl "naturally" the moment I do my NG+ game

However, i feel sorry for all those people, which are runnign already a NG+ game, are really far into it already and are affected by that bug

I'm rather confused... I thought CDPR had prevented this sort of stuff from happening, but today I noticed that Roach had lost his mane. This must have happened when I was doing the "The Lord of Undvik" quest line.

It's a real shame because, aside from a few minor glitches, everything was going smoothly until this happened. Is there a way to circumvent this issue without having to wait for a future patch or start a new playthrough?

I think this case is identical to yours.
