I'm sorry, all I can think of is green mocap actors and VAs grunting, I don't know how I'm going to survive without giggling like a prepubscent. And now I'm going to have the word 'sensual' in my head. I'm really keen to see if tw3 will successfully make me take a video game sex scene seriously, because I'd really like to, but I know that there is a high chance that I won't.

Try not taking them too seriously. TW1's notorious 'collectible' cards were tongue in cheek medieval pin-ups and everyone flipped their shit, missing the point. So then they put in cut scenes, more explicit and in your face, but still not meant to be serious. Every single romance in the game is a fun romp, even Triss. They don't have the resources to make 5 minute long intimate conversations with foreplay and an ecstatic climax because cut scenes are expensive to make.
They *might* actually have some intimate nude conversations here and there-- perhaps like Triss and Geralt did at the beginning of tw2, and there was mention of there being "meaningless" sex and presumably other kinds of sex that's more romantic (perhaps plot related/considered more important). I suppose it's going to be a little more serious like, for example, GoT which is media most people are familiar with by now-- but you're right, they're probably not going to make any conversation a part of the sex scene-- maybe before or after. It'll be interesting to see how they go about this.
I just think once you recognise that this is a relatively mature game and you're like me you're probably going to take the piss out of anything that could seem remotely silly. Maybe the balance of humour and seriousness that the Witcher universe is so famous for will probably mitigate this need that I apparently have. The mocap suits and VA grunting is a thing that I either can't unsee or will have a hard time trying, so if there's nothing absurd elsewhere, I'll be cursed to be disconnected from the scene forever.
also this isn't actually a problem, just something I'm going to have to learn to accept/deal with. also it's hilarious and I can never pass humour up.
Ultimately it will come down to the writing, and how natural it feels and flows, in those romantic moments anything could rip you out.
If the writing is as on-point as it usually is in The Witcher Series, you'll be invested in the characters and caught up in the moment, that actors in mocap suits will be far enough away from your mind.
All we can do is simply put our faith in the Blacha.

Due to the size of the game and possible huge amount of quests, I wonder if we always have to chose for no sex or going all the way...you know....a little work by mouth or just a hand as some sort of side quest reward, instead of money would be lovely. I don't have to watch that as a cut scene though.

That is kind of inappropriate and making sex pretty trivial, that would kind of get us right back on the level of TW1 in terms of sexual maturity, and after TW2s sex content TW1s level is definitely a huge downstep.

I guess you can't gives us a hint about how many different sexual encounters there will be? (not counting hookers) I'm asking because the gamestar journalist didn't see a single sex scene in the 10-12 hours he played and he didn't try to avoid them.
Good, I don't want to have more than 10 and for all that I care they can come later in the game, starting after 20 hours or so.
I'm sure almost all or even all of them will be optional like in Witcher 1 and 2. So nobody will force you to watch them, but I would like to get a confirmation that they weren't scaled down
No, it's not that I don't want them, it is the density and pacing that I want them to get right.

If someone doesn't like the pacing or the frequency and thinks there are too many he/she can always just refuse to have sex. (I guess it will be clear when there is going to be a sex scene). Neither Witcher 1 nor Witcher 2 had a 10-12 hours stretch without meeting someone and getting the opportunity to sleep with her. That's a a bit worrying, but maybe he was just unlucky.
