RTX 4090 + DLSS 3 + G-Sync AND V-Sync?

Heya!

What's the situation with DLSS 3 and G- and/or V-Sync?

Have I understood correctly that V-Sync alone won't cut it, so you have to ALSO manually enable V-Sync in Nvidia Control Panel? Normally that would be a non-no on a 120hz screen, but I don't have any experience with DLSS 3 yet. With just G-Sync enabled I seemed to be getting a lot of tearing - but I'm also getting a lot of crashes, so the problem may be elsewhere.

BTW, no salt here - I love you guys, CDPR! It'll take a while to get everything sorted out, but this thing is looking terrific! You didn't have to do this, and it's free!

When you enable DLSS 3 the in-game vsync will be disabled and Nvidia Reflex will be enabled. Make sure you have updated your Nvidia drivers and then enable vsync in the Nvidia Control Panel for Witcher 3. This configuration will automatically cap the refresh rate a few HZ below your display's cap (in your case about 116 hz/fps) due to Reflex.

You still need vsync though to properly synch G-Sync regardless of if the display is within the supported G-Sync range (When used with G-Sync it'll operate in an alternative mode that doesn't behave like traditional vsync, which adds latency and cuts FPS when it falls below refresh rate).

One thing I want to point out. if you read GeForce Game Ready Driver manual whatever the update version it is, it said it right there in the manual, for enable for G-sync to work, need to have your games in display mode: Full-screen instead of Windowed or Windowed Borderless. I was shocked, didn't know that, and disappointed. I played all my games in Windowed Borderless because I go between monitors. This is something that Nvidia needs to work on and I am... still surprise that they didn't work on it yet.

I also noticed, v-sync run smoothly when it is Windowed Borderless and G- Sync (v-sync off) run smoothly when it is Full-Screen from my experience with The Witcher 3 version: 1.32. Now, TW3 version: 4.0, I don't know. When I first played TW3 version: 4.0, I was like wow, stunning beautiful game and at the same time it scary to play around with your graphics setting because who knows what it does to your graphic card(s) because everything is "new" DLSS 3 and etc.

@ TW3 version 1.32, it runs very smoothly (no screen-tearing) at Maximum Frames Per Second 60 when i run / angle my head rotations in the game, but now I can't do that in version: 4.0. So, what I did was ... I kind of play around with-it little bit, by increasing Maximum Frames Per Second to from 60 to 144, the smoothness almost came back to how it was in version 1.32, but it is now at 144 instead of 60. I have to say Thank God, that my monitor support 144Hz, but something tells me something is not right. CDPR, have a lot of things they need to work on. I'm curious to see if they can get smoothness back to 60 Maximum Frames Per Second in version 4.0
