Rune Maker Enchanting Question

This is my first foray into HoS. I made a beeline to the Rune Maker and completed his requirements (pick-axe,ruby, 5k,10k,15k). However when he brought up the topic of master tools Geralt turned him down flat (though I had another 25k available). There are 'greater' Glyphs available but all the enchantment recipes calls for nothing better than a 'lesser' Glyph. Have I missed something, or are master recipes of rune enchantments something I must find on the road with other quests? Second minor question does arrow deflection work on 100% of incoming?

IMO the Enchanter is a waste of money (and time). The only good thing is that he can add slots to your weapons/armors.

I didn't think he was a waste of money. But you can also manage without him. I played HoS first time with default Geralt and I didn't use those runewords then, 'cause I didn't have much money. When I started HoS second time, I had nearly 250 000 money, so I gave him a chance. Didn't know what else to do with those money. There was few things that came a little by surprise:

One runeword takes all 3 slots in one gear and you can put those only to your swords and chest armor.

So I could by all I needed. No need to craft greater stuff. I needed to find few other rune recipes and I got those by finding ? marks in HoS area. I took Dumplings, Levity and Preservation and now I'm very happy with those I don't know about that arrow deflection,sorry I think it should be 100% with those prizes
