Running the Witcher 2

I have been trying to play the Witcher 2 to no avail and I thought I would try the forums for some suggestions. I will list my specs below. The game on lowest settings with sampling off runs at anywhere between 15 - 30 frames per second. I don't think my hardware is the problem because the way I see I should be able to run it somewhat decently. I looked at my hardware and they seem to be in working order. I also erased my HDD completely and re installed windows.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2310 CPU @ 2.90GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.9GHz
8192MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti ; 4049 MB
Windows 7 64bit

If you need anything else listed let me know.

What resolution? Resolution makes a big difference with this game, because it forces the GPU to do a lot of per-pixel processing. This affects performance even more than low vs. high settings. 1920x1080 overwhelms a number of mid-range cards, including the 550Ti.

Try 1280x720. I think you will be able to get better performance and turn up the eye candy at that resolution.

I turned it down to 1280 x 720 and the frame rate was about 30 - 50 but the movements of the character and the mouse were still really jerky.

Try the well-known stutter fix: http://www.gog.com/forum/the_witcher_2/jerky_game_when_geralt_runs

Oops, the link in that thread is dead. Here is a good link to the stutter fix: http://www.meteobell.com/Divers/Jeux/witcher2_stuttering_fix.7z

You'll need 7Zip to unpack it.

That did help a lot on medium with 1290 x 720 I get a decent frame rate. I think it's actually playable so I appreciate your help.
